Walther's PDP gives Glocks some serious competition. One of the best triggers on a striker-fired pistol that I've tried. Incredibly comfortable, too.

Complains about cost and work needed to make Glocks to his liking, then picks guns that are close to custom Glock prices or with aftermarket stuff to be in the 3-4x cost range.

I was interested when he got to the CZ P10, but then the end product was all tricked out.  I've shot the P10 variants and like them.

I haven't shot the PDP, but very interested.  I have gone back to focusing on Glock Gen 5s.  If it wasn't for the amount of support gear that I have to Glock and I would want to get for either a P10 or PDP, I would be more willing to give them a try.

Tried hard to like Glock. Spent money to try to warm up to it. Should have known, throwing money at a problem never works. Look at rail.

Got a P365X. All stock, loved it out of the box. Added the Wilson Combat grip module, now even better. Spent $65 over box and got a great, accurate, soft shooter.

I still love all things CZ, but for a solid carry piece, the P365X checks the boxes, for me.

For me it's as simple as I've stuck with Glock because of everything besides the gun. I can completely take it apart with ONLY a 3/32" allen key and service it myself, the available parts on the market are astronomical, HPD uses Glock so in a SHTF there's a higher chance something I need for the Glock is out there in the environment.

I see them as purely a survival tool. When the intent of a thing is to simply sling a lead pill to preserve life and keep working in shitty conditions, I think that's a pedigree Glock has held for a long time.

That's not to say that newer polymer striker fire guns aren't more reliable. It's just Glock is proven LONGER. There's a peace of mind in already knowing what it can or can't do through decades of service, studies and reports.

My train of thought anyways.

Many of the reasons people use to justify their decision to choose a Glock may be obsolete now that there are so many alternatives available -- reliability being one of the reasons.

Here's a video that discusses his list of 5 things that you might need to think about before buying a Glock.

Mr. Outlaw's reasons are subjective
Grip angle - subjective
It's ugly - subjective
Reliable - it is very reliable. Although I have other pistols just as reliable. But the Glock is reliable
Shitty sights - I agree. I don't like the sights, but Glock is one of the easier sights to replace and there are a lot of choices for aftermarket sights
Aftermarket parts - there's a crapload of parts available for Glocks. Sights, triggers, holsters, WML, etc.
Although I am a bit of a fanboi, I'll admit that there are better pistols out there. I'd like to try some Walrher's and some Canik's and others. Competition is a good thing

Far as I can tell (sure do not watch them all) these internetz experts make all these videos to make money from gullible watchers, and maybe get free stuff from manufacturers to try and promote.

There sure seems to be a crowd that hangs on every new video as absolute truth from an undisputed and unimpeachable source.

That's kind of how opinions work -- they are usually subjective.

He's not telling anyone to not buy Glocks.  He's just saying people buying their first pistol might want to think outside the "Glocks." (I just made that up,   :geekdanc: )

The 5 points he raised are valid. Most who compare Glock designs to other popular models have made the same observations.  While still a matter of preference, he makes valid points about grip angle being different than most other pistols that follow the 1911 grip angle -- arguably the most ergonomic and natural angle for a pistol grip.

He offered his own anecdotal stories about poor customer service and reliability.  Having a gun shipped back to him with no repairs for a cracked frame seems like a valid complaint, as does his experience with ammo that malfunctions in his Glocks that work perfectly in other brands.

As I said, I agree it's subjective, but that doesn't mean someone else's opposing opinions aren't just as subjective.  Hence, the recommendation to not get locked into buying a Glock first before looking into others you might like and shoot better.

I mostly share these videos because it's quicker than trying to transcribe the parts I thought were interesting and/or useful.

As with everything on the Internet, they couldn't post it if it wasn't true!   :geekdanc:

I thought the Rhino revolvers were the ugliest new-production wheel guns I'd seen.

Still are, but it's like a Porsche.  I'll have to take a test drive to appreciate the performance over esthetics.

Thos are ugly

My opinion on the aesthetics of the Glock is that it's not so much ugly, but rather it's plain Jane looking, nothing special, utilitarian. I can appreciate that.
It's also a blank canvas to build on with endless aftermarket upgrades. I like to think of it as the Ford Mustang of pistols. (Some say Honda Civic, but Mustang is a better compliment) ;)

More like a Harley-Davidson.  Pay more than a comparable Honda or Yamaha, then add about $3,000+ in aftermarket upgrades to customize it and make it "fit" you.

If you're driving a factory-equipped Harley, you're not doing it right!   :geekdanc:

Especially if you got an electric Harley. That's a sin!!!
