« on: March 08, 2023, 10:55:08 AM »
Can anyone tell me where I can pick up some 18650 batteries locally or anyone online sellers willing/able to to ship to Hawaii?    Tried all the big names and couldn’t find one willing to ship. Thanks.

Looks like these guys will, but you pay for shipping:

https://www.18650batterystore.com/

I put 10 batteries in my cart to get the discount price, and shipping to Mililani was just under $16 for USPS Priority.

I haven't used them.  Just started the checkout process to see if they ship here.

Battery Bill charges way too much for 18650 cells. You may have some lying around in old laptops. I order in bulk from here: www.batteryhookup.com Only cells I trust are LG and Samsung.

What type are you looking for? There are protected 18650 batteries (they are actually cells not batteries) and there are unprotected 18650 batteries. There are also standard ones and ones that are made to withstand high draw. 18650 really just refers to the size of the cell so depending on what you are planning to use them for you might need to make sure you get a certain type.

Battery bills, some places that sell rechargeable flashlights, the local Nitecore guy are the only ones that come to mind. If I remember correctly laptop batteries were often made up of a bank of 18650 cells soldered together.

Like EEF says don’t use the unregulated one for the wrong application or a fire will result.
I’m becoming clinically undepressed and thinking about beginning it all.

A couple of days ago when we had that windy weather, the power went out at my house.
I took a shower by the light from my trusty 18650 flashlight.

Years ago when LED lights were still a new thing, I started working on a project to build an emergency house light system.
I never did finish that project,  but nowadays you can buy stuff like that pretty cheap.

A few blocks away, my kid lives in a house with a Tesla whole house backup system.
He said it worked exactly as intended. He also said the system reported it had enough capacity to run 36 more hours.
Impressive but costly.

I don't know on how you feel about the catalytic converter thefts of late, but Tesla Model S and X have about 4,000 of them in the floor. Not suggesting anything, but i'm not not suggesting anything.

Just want to say Sean with Nitecore Hawaii is fantastic.  I never used (or honestly even heard) of Nitecore before seeing on this thread.  Decided to try it out to support local and their product reviews are overall positive.

Bought a flashlight and a rechargeable 18650.  Sean texted me just a few minutes after the order to make sure I had the right battery since the flashlight uses the Nitecore 21700.  Order shipped out same day.  Top notch customer service.

Don't recommend trying to harvest from an EV if you don't know what you're doing.  One short and you'll go up in flames with the car and I'll be watching you on the news.
