If a vendor wants to trade for your property, no reason to think they would not be allowed.  As long as any permit requirements are satisfied, trades will normally be fine.

I wouldn't try setting up a trade with another random show attendee.  At least one of you ought to be a registered vendor with a table.

1. Make a small sign with the gun price that's easy to read from 20' away
2. Tape the sign to the end of a chopstick
3. Put a sling on your rifle
4. When at the show, put the chopstick sign into the muzzle and sling the rifle over your shoulder
5. Walk around

You can trade with the vendors, just as you would buy, sell, or browse.  You can bring a firearm into the show, check it in at the front table, to see if vendors are interested in it.

You could also rent a table for about $50.  Very cheap for a tradeshow table.  Tables might still be available.

1-I've seen people do this before. But if you think about it, unless you are a vendor/table holder, it would be a violation of the "place to keep" clause.
The gun show, per se, is not a place of business, gunsmith, shooting range or police station.
2-Show rules prohibit wearing of firearms at the show unless you are an HHAA re-enactor or security staff.

My recommendation is to display a photo or perhaps print out a page of photos and descriptions and pass them out to people who might be interested.
Include your contact information on your flyer. That would probably be a more effective method of advertising anyway.

The other possibility is to secure a table reservation. There may still be tables available, even though the deadline for reservations has long since passed.
It would be up to the show coordinator to allow a late reservation. However, holding a table comes with a whole different set of rules that you must agree to.

If OF were right, every vendor at the show with a firearm on display would be violating the "Places to Keep" rules.

I have been going to the Gun Show for 40+ years now; I have bought exactly ONE rifle from a guy with a sign on his slung rifle.  It's something you just don't see.  However, if you were to bring in a properly cased pistol or long gun I would be interested in seeing what you've got and what you want for it (trade or cash). 

Being a suspicious and untrusting of government sort, this post sounds like the makings of a HPD or ATF sting.

"Checked" could mean inspected or given to someone to hold.  Given the number of laws that would break when lending firearms (especially pistols), I would be shocked (but not surprised) if the show operators would accept liability for firearms left in their charge -- not to mention the amount of inconvenience having to accommodate viewings for potential buyers/traders.

But, I have no specific knowledge.  Just posting how I interpret the rules and laws.

It's to make sure guns are cased or wrapped, unloaded, and action zip tied open.  They don't hold guns there.
