18,000 cows killed
« on: April 13, 2023, 04:59:34 AM »
In Texas there was an explosion and fire that killed 18,000 dairy cows.
https://www.yahoo.com/news/18-000-cows-killed-explosion-013001077.html

That's a lot of dead cows.
That sounds like a major news story to me.
So I went to the CBS News website to see what a national news organization had to report.
They had:
Trump
Pickleball
Florida rain
Steven Yeun
Diane Feinstein

No cows...not a single word about 18,000 dead cows.

What, Me Worry?

Save the tails.  Oxtails are so f**kn expensive.  Check if the meat is medium rare.  If it is, save it and freeze um.
Sometimes you gotta know when to save your bullets.

There was an article about the problem of how to dispose of 18,000 dead cows.
That's the first thing I thought about when I heard this story.
What a waste of meat and leather.

I noticed that CBS News finally mentioned the story yesterday.....5 days later.

It took them 5 days to accept there's no way to link the story to White Separatists or Right-Wing Extremists. Also, there were no PETA protestors looking to coerce the owners into paying them to leave.

Sad day when such an extraordinary story can't be tied to your favorite political narratives.

there have been multiple fires at food production facilities over the past year or so that got ZERO coverage
there are twitter feeds and websites devoted to this topic

That would be against their own interests, wouldn't it?

Holy cow!  That's udderly ridiculous!  You mad, bro-vine?.

You should steer clear of those meetings.  You also shouldn't post pasture bedtime.

I think I've milked this for all it's worth!  I'm going to listen to some moo-sic now...

On a serious note. I'm still wondering who cud handle the disposal of so many cows. Anybody care to guess how this tail ends? As for this discussion, I lactose skills necessary to continue this diatripe. It's all bull anyway.

According to my cow-culations, it'll take a few bull-dozers to plow them under.  If you want to know exact numbers, you'll need to use advanced cow-culus and a cow-loric cow-culator.

I feel sorry for the cownty health dept officials.
There are set rules for disposal of livestock. They can't be lowing their standards just because of the magnitude of the problem.
They need to follow the leather of the law.
It would be-hoove the health dept to not take short cuts.

I was looking at oxtails today at KTA Market in Hilo. $12.99 a lb!  I love oxtails but at that price, I'll keep my money instead.
