Deja vu back to the Covid times.......

Their experiment worked.

I like the appointment system.  Too many times people go early and reserve a bunch of benches for their friends.  Guys standing around talking and not shooting while others wait.  Now you go exactly at a designated time, shoot quick, and then get out.  Just wish they made it four relays.  Anyway this system will have people on the fence either way.  Everyone has an opinion.

The appt system has advantages, get a table without standing in line.   But it the past it had problems where half the people were no shows.  They took standbys at the range, but lanes went unused.  Other issue is if a person just needs a half hour, then the other hour in the time slot goes unused.

I can see an appointment system being useful for golf where there is high demand but only one person goes through at a time.  Or tennis courts where there's just a few available.  But Koko Head has a lot of lanes.  Just have to work on balancing the load in the mornings and afternoons.

Current system seems fine, just have a rule or notice not to take up lanes that aren't used.  Keep it simple.  An appointment system is more work on both sides.

But ... Like everything else, anti 2Aers can fill up the spots. The anti hunting crowd do that with the hunters ed course.

So the C&C golf system had no penalty for cancellations and no stand by since groups are sent every 20 mins or so.  Also when booking a RSVP, you had to do in a group of 4 or wait on stand by.  What happened was 1 guy would book and claim the other 3 never show or cancelled.  So this 1 guy was let thru alone.  This happens all the time.

Then add in the mad rush to make a RSVP.  It was like the PTA online RSVP during covid. So once people figured out what time to call in to get the next slot, the booking is flooded and many couldn't get thru.

My dad golfs every Saturday and told me this.  He said it would be better if they had a $5 no show fee or something.  But the city never did that, even after he spoke to the employee at Ala Wai Golf Course.  "not by problem" is probably the mentality.

Why they even needed this is stupid.  It should be just show up like how you do and write your name on the list.  Go wait in  your car and we will call you. If you don't respond within X time, then too bad.

So keep it simple is the best, which means how it currently was for KHSC.

What we will see is the website crashes and RO's hands are tied with letting stand by's/walk ins go.  This new system is nothing more than to discourage people from shooting.

I agree.  Sign up list.  They call you when a lane is ready.  Enforce "no saving lanes" rule.  Simple.

I remember the covid times BS when we tried to reserve times at KHSC and all times were taken.  It seemed like you spend 23 hours out of a 24 hour day trying to get a reserved time.

Same was for the PTA BS.

OMG, not sure if I should sh*t my pants laughing or scream in outrage, or just shake my head, acknowledging that this is the norm with the City......

Or is the mayor sublimely suggesting that this issue is something he don't give a flying f**k about.
