Visiting the PI and bringing a firearm
« on: November 26, 2012, 12:26:50 PM »
I'm curious if anyone here has ever brought a firearm on a visit to the Philippines before.

1. Is it a good idea to do so?

2. What are the laws about bringing a firearm out of the US?  Back in the US?  What kind of paperwork would one need to do this?

3. What are the laws about bringing a firearm into the Philippines?  Out of the Philippines?  What kind of paperwork would one need to do this?

4. Considering the issue of customs or baggage handlers taking stuff out of people's luggages, what is the best way to transport the firearm into and out of the Philippines?  Hand carry? Luggage?  Certified mail?

I think, therefore I am armed.

I've been to the Philippines many times.

I wouldn't try to bring a firearm to the Philippines.

Not 100% sure, but I think you need to be a Philippines citizen to have a firearm there.

Exception would be military on duty.

Hmm thanks KK.  Just curious what people who shoot competitively do. I figure they'd want to bring their custom race guns or something.

I spoke to Henry of WGS in Hawaii Kai about the PI. I forgot what the procedure was as he explained it to me. Maybe you can stop by WGS?

Peter and Henry and all the other guys that go and bring their guns are Filipino citizens.
