It was only a matter of time. Given the media campaign this past week with Kevin Bacon and the like.
Why has that community focused attention on youth and their families?
What local family would consider A'ala Park a family gathering place? I doubt even the Addams Family would care to visit that place.

FamilyPromise appears to be a good legit organization.
Unknown why they would feature a drag queen for entertainment.

Having said that, I know a couple of Drag Queens and they are nice people and funny as hell.

The performers appear to be locally based. Normally I wouldn't care but in my old job there were some people who were confusing the heck out of their kids for social status points.
This one boy in particular really bothered me. He was wearing a dress and rainbow crap and acting kinda saucy. It would be weird if girls acted like that. I really hope they didn't try and convince him to cut his dick off.

i think the big controversy nationally is that there are drag shows that perform R-rated and even X-rated dances and songs, and kids are allowed to attend.  It's a highly sexualized performance for adults, but kids are attending.

Then there are the DQ's who get caught molesting kids that came to the library for story time.  Small percentage, but enough to make the news now and then.

As with all things, people are individuals.  The one's being allowed to entertain children need to have a background check done and the material approved by the venue so they can inform parents. 

If done right and monitored properly, I think it can be entertaining for kids and adults if the performers are talented.

What I don't understand is why this community feels the need to have story time with children.  I think that it's only so they can push their agenda. Story time is often done by teachers or a book club and by members of the book club to promote how reading is important.

There are many vids of the drag/trans agenda being pushed at these story times.  But there also may be videos of no agenda being pushed, but I have yet to see them.  But this doesn't mean it doesn't exist.  Like this is just how these guys dress when they go out and truly support how reading is important.

The main issue I have is when they're shaking their asses and dressing revealing toward children.  I would also have the same problem if it was a woman in the exact same outfit doing the exact same performance.  Some things are not for children to see yet.

What this boils down to is that the parents who allow this or who promote their kid as IDing as another gender, is because the parents want the attention. Kind of like vegans, cross fitters, or people from TX.  They want to tell everyone about it and wait for the opportunity to do so to get attention.  In 10 years, these kids are going to be messed up psychologically.

I suspect someone on the board of Family Promise was pushing an agenda. It would have much better to have a well known person do story telling. I know that in the past, TV news people have done that. Kids get real excited to meet with TV news people.

I wrote earlier that I thought someone was pushing an agenda.
I just saw a transcript of Mayor Rick saying the exact same thing on a radio show.
Yesterday I googled the performer "Candi Shell" and the act that xhe had online was pretty vulgar and disturbing.
It wasn't hard to find that video. So that means it wouldn't be hard for a kid or a board member to find it also.
Therefore, obviously the administration of FP was trying to push an agenda.
If I were on the board of Family Promise, the LAST thing I would do would be to invite a drag queen in costume to be reading to children.

There's a time and place for everything and this wasn't it.

I wouldn't be surprised if funding for that organization is reduced after this incident.
Kind of like the slow-motion Bud Light boycott happening at this moment.

If I were on the marketing team for AB, I would market a new beer called "BUD RIGHT" featuring Hickok45 on the label.
...or something like that...

Historically, drag queens have been Gay men.  Transgenders are not normally (did I just say "normally?") interested in just pretending to be female  They already believe they are are women, not impersonators.

So, these groups inviting drag queens to do anything that involves children might as well be advertised as a Gay Pride Exhibition.

Keiki had the opportunity to dance with Miss Hawaiʻi and to listen to stories
during a drag performer story time, where local female impersonators read
fun adventures from books to the keiki.

What happened to FEATURING DRAG STORY TIME?  Looks like the Drag entertainment is being downplayed.
