Didn't watch the vid, but based on the title, why would he confess now?  Maybe being told to  take the blame for someone else?

According to the confessor, he was living with the guilt daily.  He was worried his family would suffer if he ever got arrested and convicted through investigation, so this was in part to save them the trauma of that revelation.  I guess he thinks coming forward voluntarily demonstrates he's not the same drug addicted murderer he was 14 years ago?  If he's raising kids and teaching them right from wrong, maybe he feels like he has no room to teach them such values after committing murder?  It's also possible he's found religion which could have been a part of his rehab.  It's probably a combination of things.  With the way media, news and movies are today, he's probably reminded of his crime every time he turns around.

Taking another's life is something many people never get over, especially if it was the life of an innocent person.

I can only go off what he said and how cooperative he was.  You should watch the video and see how he breaks down after he's taken back to the interview room.
