Good Guy With a Gun? Las Vegas Police Secretive About Shooting at High Rise
Quote
Las Vegas police are withholding details about what looks like a classic “good guy with a gun”
scenario in which someone carrying a firearm prevents what could have turned into a mass
shooting.

The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department won’t identify anyone involved in an incident
Friday in which a helmet-wearing man with what appeared to be a semiautomatic rifle shot out
windows at a high-rise condominium before being shot himself.

Local media reports say that residents of the condo complex, Turnberry Towers, hailed a building
employee, possibly a security guard or mailroom worker, as a hero for shooting and stopping the
gunman before he fired on anyone.

A video circulating on social media does appear to depict a case of defensive gun use to protect
others.

PROTECT THE NARRATIVE, NOT THE PUBLIC!!

Questions on how the incident played out remained unanswered for days as media coverage
was minimal despite the worker having foiled what appeared to be a mass shooting attempt,
Heritage Foundation senior legal fellow Amy Swearer claimed.

"Normally when you have some sort of video like this, especially when it's what appears to be
an active shooting situation, that's something that makes national news. I've never seen that
not pick up steam of some sort," Swearer told Fox News Digital.

"What's bizarre here is the hand waving, ‘Nothing to see here. Move along, folks,’" Swearer
continued.
Quote
"Generally speaking, when you have somebody in a public space with a rifle, who just begins
firing, not at a specific person… he's just like firing into glass doors," she said.  That has all of
the earmarks… of someone who is bent on a serious form of violence against more than one
person."

Swearer said "normally" when video circulates of an individual in a public place holding a rifle,
it makes "national news."

Swearer said in a Twitter thread on June 27, before the arrest report was reported, that it
appeared the police department wanted to downplay the crime as to not highlight that a "good
guy with a gun" prevented a tragedy.

"Four days, and LVPD apparently doesn't think it's important to clarify basic facts of an incident
that would probably garner national attention. They'd prefer you just move along, folks, because
what does it matter if a good guy with a gun saved lives?," Swearer wrote.

Warrender was charged with attempted murder, two counts of assault with the use of a deadly
weapon, and illegally discharging a gun.

Maybe that nutjob should have targeted a school.  That's where all the attention is focused on mass shooters.

If you're having trouble with the video I linked to,
@DonutOperator also highlighted yesterday. Again,
readily available, and LVMPD told us they have
nothing to say or clarify without a FOIA.

Well it is a country club, so maybe they have some involvement on hiding the reason and the details.  Cause CC's are rich people are members.

A few years ago at Range 702, a CCW class was taking place and some guy tried to steal another guys gun from his bag while he was in the toilet. While the thief was outside waiting for Metro to show up, a few CCW holders were waiting with him too. Then when Metro showed up, the guy stabbed 1 of the cops with a screwdriver.  Her partner and the 2 or 3 CCW holders lit the guy up.  Soon after, a spokesman for Metro thanks the guys and called them hero's.

IDK if Metro is under the same leadership or not.

When I see stories about the Cops not wanting to publicize an incidence of violence, it's usually because the Cops are going to have their actions scrutinized by Monday Morning Lawyers.

In this case, it almost feels like the police are angry that a private citizen did their job.  They can't let people realize that self defense trumps calling 911 and waiting for the police to show up with their guns.
