France is on fire

Macron is losing control of France. Thousands of arrests. Torched schools, community centres, city halls, sports complexes, post offices. Looting ranging from Lidl supermarkets to Apple Stores. Gendarmes and special forces brought in to patrol the streets at night, in addition to the beleaguered police force. Rising anger among shopkeepers clamouring for a curfew “or we’ll take matters into our hands”.

And, after five days’ rioting across France, a rising sentiment that the current situation is largely the result of almost a quarter century of craven governments neglecting essential law and order.

Does anybody know why the police officer shot the teenager?  I got as far as the officer is very sorry about the incident and asked the family for forgiveness.  He did not want to kill the kid.

One news quip said the boy complied with police orders but then the police shot him.

So WTF did the kid do to make him shoot?

All this crap news out there but I haven't been able to find out what happened between the kid and the police.

French police with a pistol pointed at the teenage driver decides to shoot through the windshield when the teen tried to drive the car away from him during a traffic stop.
It does not seem that lethal force was justified.

Thanks. :shaka:

Would be great if they could release body cam footage but maybe that's asking too much.

I agree about that.

However, even cops have ROE and justified use of deadly force..  Was there an immediate threat to self or others?

I wonder why the cop had the gun pointed at the driver through the windshield in the first place.
Was there something that happened prior to the video that caused the cop to have to pull a firearm on the driver?

I'm interested to know also and I think it's also interesting that the video starts with the cop already having a gun pointed at the driver.

France Has Fallen: After 1,000 Buildings Burnt, 5,600 Vehicles Destroyed, 3,300 Arrests, Government Vows to Crack Down – On Free Speech

89% of Frenchmen condemn the violence committed against security forces, leaving left-wing riot apologists in the tiny minority. A man was killed by a flash-bang grenade in Marseille. The GoFundMe for the police officer involved in the deadly shooting of Nahel M. reached €1.6 M. The Macron government proposed cracking down on free speech instead of the rioters.

The article mentioned the victim's deadbeat dad.  Never had anything to do with the boys upbringing and life up to this point.

But now this puke wants justice for his "son".

Some people nomo shame.

By the way, when I was 17 the car I drove was a piece of junk that I bought for $350.  Where da hell do these younguns get the cash nowadays to drive those nice cars........

It’s a sign of a healthy society when shame still works to curb unwanted behavior.
