So the suspect was released due to the Big Island not having the means to incarcerate him?

So why you think where I live here on the BI, in Puna, ainokea and would never call da cops. Waste of time. We also don’t have a fire department that serves our area because
there is no water service.  I am my own police and fire department. A lot of people I know nokea either.

I have a backhoe and a pre dug hole about 8 ft. across. That is for my future tilapia pond in case anyone wants to know.

The official name is Hawaii Island to differentiate if from the state name.

Big Island is a nickname that stuck from common use.

In the land of The Bus and The Rail, The Big Island makes too much sense.

Coulda just put the last line. Woulda been kinda funny instead of condescending.
Who didn’t know the first two lines ?
And I think it’s Island of Hawaii to distinguish it from the State of Hawaii. Not Hawaii Island. They’re all Hawaii islands.
(Under Imperial rule of the State and Empire. 🤓)
Big Island still makes more sense.
Transplants may not understand though and the thoroughly woke might find it offensive.  (Island shaming)
