Hawaii Island police have identified the man who was mauled to death by a pack of dogs in a “horrific attack” on Tuesday.

The victim has been identified as 71-year-old Robert Northrop, of Ocean View.

The incident happened in the Hawaiian Ocean View Estates subdivision around 9 a.m. on Tuesday.

A witness said he saw Northrop being attacked in the roadway by four large dogs. The witness chased the dogs off and called 911.

The government doesn't condone exercising the right to be armed in public.  That goes double in Hawaii.

They would rather you be a victim than admit they can't keep everyone safe.

the unreasonable one persists in trying to adapt the world to himself.
Therefore, all progress depends on the unreasonable man.

BI justice system should adopt a de facto constitutional carry policy.

No priors…no problem

Just changes the headline to "bad man murders dogs for no reason". Sure, you'd be alive, but your life would still forever be changed. And thats not a government problem.

I have serious doubts any unarmed human could beat my 120 lb Rottweiler. A lot of people who don’t own dogs fail to realize how fast their reflexes are, how much pain they can tolerate and how much damage a single bite can do. I see a lot of loose dogs in my area and also see people walking with nothing more then a cell phone or water bottle.  I would at the least have a walking stick. Even with that I wouldn’t like to face a large dog wanting to attack me.  Angry animals attack with everything they got, no hesitation and no thinking of the consequences.

My EDC is a fixed blade knife, Mace pepper gun, X26 Taser and something else with a little longer range.
I no mo CCW HI Lic but fo now AINOKEA bout dat since no can carry any kine place anyway.

When you get multiple athletic dogs worked up and trigger their hunting instincts they can feed off of each others energy and temporarily go insane.

If the animals are well trained and cared for they have a much better chance of resisting group psychosis, but in Hawaii animal abuse and neglect is far too common.

Same goes for humans, btw.
