That review is actually making me interested in seeing the movie.
I have no real comment on it as I have not seen it however it seems like the movie had a bit of a lefty message so therefore all the lefties line up to defend it while all the righties line up to attack it all out of blind tribalism.

I think you're generalizing again, and you're way off base as usual.  Did you find a poll of "all" lefties and righties?  Just wondering why you have this opinion.

You are right, I was generalizing.
I was not saying that any and all people on the right of the spectrum was criticizing the movie. I just noticed, generally speaking, quite a bit of criticism and praise that lined up along political lines.

There was a bit of a conservative knee jerk reaction, and while the film definitely deserves criticism for woke cringe it sounds like Greta Gerwig actually made an interesting movie that turned some conventions on their head.

I'll probably check it out when it's streaming since I don't pay for propaganda.

Went and saw the movie with the wife and it wasn't as bad as you would think from many of the negative conservative reactions.

It wasn't some woke man bashing movie, I would say it was rather multifaceted. It did have a few scenes of women bemoaning difficulties of women in a male dominated world but it also kind of addressed issues for men as well. In Barbie land, a female dominated world, they relegate men to meaningless, powerless, roles. It's like it was saying even if we were in a matriarchy there would still be problems. It even showed how women can use their power of being desired by men as a way to manupulate men. Ken leaves barbie land and finds meaning and purpose among other funny things. There were a lot of funny scenes and well acted I think by the main characters.

I think my one big criticism of the movies is that one of the Barbies in Barbieland was played by a male actor. Other than that I thought the movie was fairly good but I left not knowing what to think about it. It is not real clear to me what the writer was trying to convey sometimes. Were there a lot of unintentional messages of did she weave a complex tapestry of themes and meanings? The plot is relatively easy to describe but the takeaway not so much. Lots of topics seem to be left a little open to make you think rather than tell you what to think.

The purported message of the movie would probably go "swoooosh!" over my head.

I wouldn't pay to go see it and if it was streaming free at home I'd probably fall asleep or get so angry at it I'd throw something at the TV.
