. I have never seen an engine block melt and cause a puddle like flow going down hill or the same when rims melt. That was an interesting video.

Kind of reminds me of the China satellite lasers that flashed Hawaii skies 6 months ago.

Interesting a IG page I follow is also asking the questions about melting and posted pics of the car dealership burned in Kenosha. No puddles of aluminum.   I just thought, how can an engine block melt, but the body of the car not melt. Like the roof is still intact, the front fenders, the part that holds the roof up. Only the hood is gone.

The hood is manufactured differently than the rest of the vehicle.  it has to contain the engine's heat, reduce noise, maintain its paint finish (prevent fading) and be formed with air intakes/scoops, etc.

They can be made of a combination of metal, rubber, carbon fiber and other materials to increase longevity and reduce weight.

We didn't go after then for  spy balloons.  Laser is just light.  Much less invasive or threatening.

So far, afaik, the worst laser strike result has been -- pilots filling out required laser strike questionnaires.

In 2021, there were  almost 10K reports of laser strikes by US pilots, a 42% increase over 2020.  Still, no injuries or actual safety issues resulted.

Not saying it's a nothing burger.  Just that there are bigger threats than laser lights.

Maybe we can issue another diplomatic protest to the Chinese?

can we expect more of these?

I mean a competent person would have someones hand on the "cut button" waiting for the call.  So if no call or downed lines are reported, then no need cut power.

By the time the line is downed, it’s too late. It can spark a fire as soon as it’s downed.

True, but the alternative is to cut power for thousands everytime the wind blows.

The issue i have isnt how the fire began, but how things were managed during and after. Even till now, its a cluster fu*k. Leadership is very poor.

But 1 question i do have is did the fire start due to dry/dead stuff that wasnt cleared. Like the CA fires in the past few years. Trump wanted the feds to remove dead trees, but CA said no cause theyre part of the environment or some tree hugger BS.

I think that’s the question.
All the jump the gun lawsuits.
HECO is gonna be like “ Alright we should’ve shut the power off during Red flag warning ? We’ll show you what happens every time the wind blows and we kill power.”
