I like Wendy's. not terribly expensive, but the one by the airport is super busy at lunch time

I'm not much on fast food burgers, but when I want one, i try to go to Wendy's.

I also liked the stores that had the massive salad and 'fixings" bars.  You could load up you baked potato, make a salad and/or add all kinds of extras to your sandwiches.  I normally made a taco salad.  It was all you can eat, too, Great deal for a family with kids.

Best non-gourmet burgers on the mainland are Fuddruckers IMO.  Not enough of them around.  Last one I ate at was in SC about 7 yrs ago.  Used to go there all the time in OK.  Meat was fresh -- butchered and ground on-site.  You just order the size burger and type of bread for the bun -- or get a taco salad crispy shell and meat -- and then do the rest yourself at their fixings bar.  Everything you can imagine and more!  I used to get at least 2 salads out of one taco salad by going back to refill the lettuce, cheese, salsa, peppers, sour cream, etc, etc,

Yum!

I'll second Teddy's teri burger. I'd put them ahead of Five Guys.

I bet they are, but way fewer locations than Fuddrucker's.

https://www.fuddruckers.com/locations

https://www.habitburger.com/locations/

Habit's burger (based on their site) reminds me of Hardee's in NC which only cooked over a charcoal flame grill.

Damn!  Getting hungry!!   :geekdanc:

Hardee's was better than McD's in my town.  But the best cheap burgers were at the bowling alley my grandmother worked at in the snack bar.

Fun fact:  there was a very nice restaurant in Greenville where I attended ECU.  It was called Sweet Caroline's, and was owned and operated by the creator of the Hardee's franchise.  He sold Hardee's, opened Sweet Caroline's, and basically retired, putting in minimal time to manage the business but letting others run it day-to-day.

I'm thinkin.......... ::)

Maybe make me some burgers tomorrow for dinner.  Get me some of those over-sized sesame seed buns, onions, tomatoes, lettuce, pickles, ketchup and mayo.  Cook some homemade fries and wash it all down with an ice cold coke.  Or two.

Then watch my blood sugar meter explode 2 hrs later when I take my reading.

In LA right now. Went to in n out, it's near my sisters place, but had over 20 cars in the drive through so I'm not waiting in that line. Went 10 minutes down the road to Habit Burger and was great burger as I remember it. Got a char broiled cheeseburger with bacon. Their sauce is tasty too. I should've ordered the onion rings instead of fries bc the rings looked good. Next time. Today will try for in n out again  :shaka:

I really enjoyed the oxtail at the Cal.
And I like how the bathroom is conveniently located at the exit.

It is on rare occasion we eat out or get carry out.
Last time was Popeye's about a month ago, Rockette had craving while we were in town.
$25 (could have bought 4 whole organic chickens)
Before that was probably 2 months for a stop at "Bob's" for a fish sandwich ($5) before going to Costco.
Eating before Costco probably saves us about $100 !

You have to take out a 2nd mortgage to eat oxtail at the Cal or anywhere else for that matter. ;D

If you have the Boyd's/Vacations Hawaii food coupon book, the Oxtail soup dinner is only $5 + 1 dinner coupon -- same as the short ribs.

Dinner specials include the Oxtail soup, butterfish, prime rib and short ribs.  If you aren't using a coupon, the prices are on the sign at the entrance -- prices change based on market value.

If you're giving the casino adequate play, you can also get full comps for meals at any of their restaurants.  The Pasta Pirate was really good.  Too bad they are no more. I liked it better than the Redwood Steakhouse.  I see they also renamed that to the Redwood Bar and Grill.

I guess I've been away too long.  Time to book a trip ...

Occasionally,  I buy a costco roast chicken.
Recently, I noticed the chicken has a funky chemical taste.
Other people have mentioned the funky taste also.

My dog really likes it, but then again he will eat rocks, grass and poop.
Not joking.
