Honestly not sure where to post this so if it's in the wrong place please move it.

Has anyone ordered off of gunbroker.com? If so how was it? Opinions?

Every once in a while I see something that might interest me but I am hesitant on going for anything. Would love to here anyone's experiences or opinions.

Thanks! :shaka:

Make sure you get correct shipping and provide them with a FFL (private sales might want to check if your FFL accepts transfers from an individual) to ship your items to other than that regular registration rules apply just like buying online.

I've been a member for over 15 years and never had a problem, although I'm sure some have. One suggestion is make sure you ask the seller any questions you have and if needed, request additional photos sent to you privately. If a seller is unwilling to do these things, avoid them. Also check their feedback to ensure they have good ratings. Most sellers on Gunbroker are more than willing to work with the buyers but just like any website, there is surely the 1% out there.

I love gunbroker.com. I have bought a few guns and accessories off of gun broker. Make sure you get all your questions answered before you buy.

Nothing against using Gun Broker. I found that if I want something currently being produced that is not carried in the LGS I can usually get it ordered from the LGS for the same price as GB plus shipping plus FFL fees. In other words basically the same price as GB.

I found GB is excellent for guns not in current production.

I bought several things through gunbroker with no problems. Some sellers are small mom and pop types and don't go online all the time. You wait few days to few weeks for response sometimes.

Make sure you are buying from a FFL Dealer or Pawn Shop.

Most dealers dont like transfering guns in from private sellers.  The reason is there is no paper trail.  Should the gun be stolen and sold on GB and a local dealer recieves it they will get in deep shat with the ATF.  It has happened here in Hawaii many years ago.........I also heard of private sellers not shipping things out.  Deal with a FFL its safer.

I must be in an agreeable mood...KK and Dex within a couple of hours?  :shake:

Dealing with FFL's on GB is about the only way to go. It used to be the other way around until a numbnut mailed a Colt Anaconda directly to my house. With all the time and paperwork to get things straight, I didn't know whether to shit or go blind.

Hard to find guns/items are the only reason to use GB.  Anything currently produced can easily be ordered at a LGS. Most of the time you just need to ask and they'll beat/come close to the price. Even when they can't (match the price)...one should consider that the shipping and transfer fees often makes the overall savings minimal. And if there's a problem, you'd be stuck paying return shipping etc.

i would never buy off a private seller unless what you're buying is really rare.

Also, make sure that if you buy something, check to see if they have an "inspection" period.  If you're not satisfied with the product you bought, you can send it back.  I got screwed over twice.  Once on a revolver that was supposedly "new" but i almost guarantee that it wasn't new.  The 2nd was a 1911 that looked new but had choke problems and underneath the slide had number engraved into it with a dremel.  They did that to try and fix the problem because the cartridge would fail to go into battery and the engraving was to try and shave the top of the cartridge off.  Didn't work, so the previous own probably just traded it in.  I will most likely will never buy off of gunbroker again because it's too easy to get screwed over.

I've never had a problem on gun broker however I always try to pay with credit card. (if anything goes wrong just contact your credit card company and report it likely you will get your money back. Also I don't buy from first-time sellers. Good luck and buy a $&!%load!!!

I always buy stuff off of gunbroker.

I also usually use a postal money order. (Here's why)

If you use a postal money order and mail it through USPS, and the seller rips you off, it becomes "mail fraud" which is investigated by the federal government.

On top of that, once you file a report with gunbroker, they (gunbroker) goes after the seller.

In order to sell anything on gunbroker, you have to have a valid credit card on file. They simply charge your credit card if they can prove you ripped someone off. (It's in the fine print of their sellers rules)

Again, when it comes to firearms, buy from a FFL or insist that the seller ship through a FFL. This ounce of prevention is worth the world of cure.

I once saw a guy in line at HPD who bought a 870 from a private seller.

We were talking in the line at HPD and he was telling me how he got such a great deal.

As it turns out, HPD "runs" the serial number and the shotgun was reported stolen.

They confiscated the gun, pending their investigation.

I don't know the final result.

Your number one Option for Personal Security is a lifelong commitment to avoidance, deterrence, and de-escalation.

Someday someone may kill you with your own gun, but they should have to beat you to death with it because it is empty.
