"No constitutional right, in my view, including my oath, is intended to be absolute," she retorted. Grisham cited restrictions on free speech as an example of how rights can be curtailed in emergency situations.

gee....can this be implemented elsewhere???

She's saying her oath don't mean sh*t, depending on how she "feels". ::)

Also, she truly and deeply believes that a temporary ban will fix things.  All she did was punish law abiding citizens because criminals do not follow laws.  She is truly and deeply a retard.

What I found admirable in this whole BS scenario is that some LE officials refuse to comply with her order.

I wish here in Hawaii we had courageous and upright people in leadership.  Here in Hawaii we have cowards and selfish retards like her.

Go after the people, not the guns you f*ckn idiots.

There's a big, gaping difference between "curtailed" and "banned."

Name a time when free speech was banned.  When protected speech is violated, it usually results in a cash windfall for the individual.

Trying to use words that make the ban sound less than a ban is not going to make it not a ban -- nor unconstitutional.

She said she expects there will be legal challenges, and that's what they (anti-gunners) don't care about.  They commit blatant violations of the Constitution, yet they are rarely held accountable.  It just costs the tax payers to fight the illegal ban ON BOTH SIDES OF THE ISSUE.

Maybe if the cities and states had to pay millions to their residents each time the Constitution was violated, they'll stop?

Washington, DC Will Pay $5.1 Million
For Arresting Gun Owners

Quote
After almost a decade of litigation, Washington, D.C. will pay out $5.1 million to settle
a federal class-action lawsuit that challenged the city’s unconstitutional gun control laws.
Under the settlement agreement, which received preliminary approval on Monday, the
six gun owners who filed the lawsuit will receive $50,000 each.

This is a trial balloon by the Democrats.
I'll bet it was well thought out, and a plan to see if they can get away with it.
Here... Hold my beer and watch this
Who's gonna stop them?
If they pull it off this will be the new normal.
This wahine has got to go.

Or, maybe the parks are peaceful because criminals know half the people there are armed?

The oath of office don't mean anything anymore.  It's, like "yeah I will uphold whatever, yada yada yada....let's get this over with....." :grrr:

It's like this all over society.  Not only politics but everywhere.  Businesses, schools, HOA's, everywhere.

On the surface it sure didn't seem that way.  But just like termite rot, you don't see the problem until it's too late.

Until there is jail time or some kind of punishment for violating the constitution, specifically the 2a, this will happen often and continue. F-U sue us is their logic.

I bet some members on here probably agree with this lady. You know because if you can’t bring your firearm into jail with you then the 2A is not absolute, therefore this lady feels it’s justified to do this. Because “rights are not absolute”.

You have nailed it on the head.
Until our government employees are held responsible for their actions
our rights are at risk.
I would make the laws such that any government agent is afraid of
dealing with the public. I want them to be professional and accountable.
Like our military used to be.

Even with my left-leaning mindset, NM is over-stepping. This is a clear violation of the 2nd Amendment.

Police and licensed security personnel are exempt.

There are laws that prohibit the intentional violation of civil and constitutionally protected rights.  Declaring an emergency is not grounds for suspending the Constitution.

This is tyranny in its most obvious form.

A governor declaring an emergency does not magically transform a problem into an emergency.  They tried this in Louisiana during the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina, Afterward, many officials were fined and a few did jail time for violating civil rights.
