Israel giving guns to civilians

Gun control Israel is now getting with the times and giving guns to civilians.  Probably limited to former IDF or selective people tho.

An Israeli government request for 24,000 assault rifles from the United States is drawing scrutiny from American lawmakers...

...Israel says the rifles would be used by the national police force, but has also indicated that they could be given to civilians, people familiar with the weapons orders told The New York Times...

...newly armed civilians will be organized into what it describes as “security squads” in each city that are trained by the police and placed under the control of the local police force...

Almost everyone is former IDF in israel.

1 exception that I know of are those Jews that wear the big hat, sports coat, and long sideburns type.  IIRC the exception Israel gave is that their praying is helping the country or something.

This is what irritates me.  Why does Israel have to request this assistance from the US?  They are a pretty advanced country as far as wealth and financial standing in the global community.

Why da f*ck does the US, who is already strapped for finances because they have a POTUS that likes to clean other people's yards instead of cleaning his own have to finance the giving of weapons to the citizens of Israel?

I can see if the war effort was going on for a long time, but dammit, this war is barely a month old.  Israel cannot be that financially strapped that they would ask for this kind of assistance.

Pisses me off.  Just my opinion on how this "war" is being handled.

Rant over.

edited to add:  For now.  Most likely more to come.

Apologies for my rant:  I had trouble accessing the article and assumed Israel was requesting assistance when it looks like they are ordering the weapons from US gunmakers.

No focus on my part.

Aren't we trying to send them money as well in the package with Ukraine?  Any advanced country should get assistance from their allies because it helps from them having to soley produce stuff.

When it comes to war and giving stuff, an ally should give it right away vs waiting until it's needed.  By then it may be too late or lives could have been saved.  Bascially give them choke stuff so they can be an overwhelming force against their enemy.

But regardless of the above, the imperial war machine is a very profitable business to be in. So that's the real reason why we send stuff over to other countries.

Arab musllims, christians, and bedouins are also exempt from having to serve.

And there was a time when Japanese-Americans were exempt from military service, then became the most decorated military unit in US History.

Not so sure about that. Seen some videos of those dudes getting pretty nuts before. Maybe the American ones but the Israel ones can be pretty hardcore on religious views.
