For close quarter self defense, RDS isn't much of an advantage
I feel most of a civilians' defensive distance will be at close quarters. Might not have time to even use any type of sights, irons or RDS, just point shoot or from the hip.
Always good to have options

for compettion shooting ,it is a big help.

Bingo. Target shooting vs point shooting . plus it'll give you a nice option to rack the slide. Lol
Maybe 1 day I'll finally get one. I did however try my friends one on his rtf g17. This was before optic cut slides were a thing. And I missed every shot. unless I used the wooden block things the sillhouette side had. Iirc it was like an egw rear dovetail plate. But dont think egw made it but could be wrong.
