Adding onto this... I was curious as to why there was no arrests or fines issued? Shipping container going to noone got sized and now HPD running a scare tactic rather than keep it on the down low to sting them later?  State Government wouldn't send fireworks to themselves would they?

I used to get some rockets from relatives in the past.
But it really got out of hand during the last few years.
I think everybody in my area is getting tired of the idiots setting off explosions at 2am, 3am, 6am...

I am hearing a lot about the "dept of law enforcement" nowadays.
Did we not have enough police, sheriffs, FBI, DEA, etc. already?

Curious to know when the legislature created a new police force and when?
I would think the creation of a brand new police force would have been all over the news.
I don't recall hearing about this until recently.

It formed one year ago and was supposed to commence next month.
It's like a merger of smaller law enforcement offices.

They keep creating all these scary sounding agencies:  Dept. of Law Enforcement    Just seems people of the right connections just needed a job.  No worry, braddah, we'll get you a job.  Get plenty tax payer money.....

Like powerlessbump mentioned earlier, they confiscated a whole shipping container of fireworks.  Are they afraid that if they investigate, they not going like who they discover?  Hmmmmm? 

Lol.  This sh*t has been going on for years.  Since I was a keed.  That tells me every year "they" will wring their hands and preach about public safety and awareness and to call and take videos and pics.

They talk the talk but seldom if any will walk the walk.  Hell, they let violent criminal off the hook, what makes one think they going spend time prosecuting someone setting off these illegal fireworks?

They talk a good game.  Just like a good politician is required to do.

I think we all know that if any arrests are actually made, it will probably be your neighbor, cousin, in-laws, coworker, the cop next-door, etc
Hawaii is a small place.
The fundamental problem is lack of respect or just common courtesy.
We used to shoot fireworks before, but after midnight we stop and sweep up the rubbish and then pau.
Nowadays people just want to show off and attract attention to themselves by exploding stuff in the middle of the night 365 days a year.

Where I live on the BI, New Year’s is as quiet as all the other nights. No one in my area spends money on fireworks.

Benefit of being ultra poor and living in an ultra poor neighborhood.  Have to spend what little money you have on food.

What really makes me shake my head is when food, rent, bills, and other things get put aside this time of year to make way to buy these expensive illegal fireworks.

Probably one of the many reasons many households are maxed out on their credit cards.......

I know a lot of people who live in the public housing who spend hundreds, if not thousands on fireworks, 50th State Fair tickets, etc...Yet they're also on food stamps.

There are various reasons why a bust could be made on the contents without actually leading to an arrest. I am curious as well though.
