What are balcony pops.  I suspect it is an extremely dumb and stupid thing to do.

Originates from "desk pop" from the film the Other Guys with Will Ferrel and Marky Mark.

The fireworks show Downtown was just ok in my opinion.  We watched the show from the mezzanine bridge between the California and Main St. Station.  I've seen better.  In fact, the one daughter who couldn't make the trip texted us a video of the carnage that happened in Mililani last night.

I think the Mililani illegal aerials were better than the Downtown Vegas one, LOL!

I played craps this morning.  The usual up and down roller coaster and I ended up losing half of my $1000 dollar buy in.

And as crazy as this seems, I enjoyed the session.  I don't think it would have been enjoyable had I been playing with scared money.  I've seen this.  People playing with scared money are the most miserable beings in this world.

Another thing I knew I would grumble about on this trip and my gripe was supported everywhere:  The sea of humanity.  I simply hate crowds.  I used to tolerate it but I can't anymore.  Must be because I have become an old fut.

Also another thing is true:  America is a land of fatsos.  Everywhere I looked I spotted fatsos that need to hit the gym.  Seriously.  Not ragging on fatsos.  I was one.  Decided to do something about it.  Now I am as fit as when I was in the military.  But not running.  My knees are gone.

But yeah.  There were a lot of waddlers everywhere.

Another thing:  You think you can eat decadently everyday while in Vegas.  No way.  I'm sick of Prime Rib, Burgers from In-N-out and Shake Shack, Buffets, Cafes, etc.  You can only eat so much.

Rant over.  Heading over to Market St. Cafe to eat a bowl of Vegetable Ramen.  Then probably head out to lose some more money.  Whoo Hoo!!

I went to the Tao Day Club and was surprised despite peoples IG pics of it, there were way more fat people there than I would have thought. But it's OK cause "fat people need love too, but they gotta pay" (Family Guy quote).

We enjoy the fast food places you cannot get here as well.  Like Chipotle, Panera Bread, and used to be Chik File. The more time I spend sitting down to eat, the less time to gamble.

This is the way I gamble, it's providing entertainment. The day it's no longer entertaining (even when losing), then I stop.  IMO, this is what separates a degen gambler from a gambler. Friend went to Hong Kong and nothing but degens there. Not only were they chasing, but looked like zero fun. It's more like business.

I was going to ask what a balcony pop is also. So therefore we had UH pops, cops pops, halawa pops, and I do koko pops.

You're using the phrase wrong.  Gotta me more specific. Notice he says desk pop and not police station pop or building pop. So UH pop would be maybe road pop or car pop.

Did you even watch the movie clip?

"Desk pop" is not "a thing."

Using the term, or a derivative of it (balcony pop), would also be "not a thing."

Is it any wonder nobody else knows what it means?

Rant over.  Heading over to Market St. Cafe to eat a bowl of Vegetable Ramen.  Then probably head out to lose some more money.  Whoo Hoo!!

Yesterday morning I wanted to play craps again.  But nobody at the tables.  The dealers looked bored.  So I went up, said Happy New Year to everybody and bought in for only $600 because we as a family were gonna head out to go to the usual Hawaii people shopping adventure:  Go to Trader Joe's for stuff for family back home.

I figure kill time.

Holy shit.  I was hot.  I was rolling number after number and the chips were coming in so fast I couldn't arrange them in my rack and looked like multi-colored ribbons of red, green, white, and a sprinkling of blacks here and there.

Fun, Fun, Fun!!!  I would place a bet for the dealers on the passline with odds along with me.  I would roll like a couple of come-out 7's and eleven's and we would win even money and then I would replace their bets again.  Then when the point is established I would roll a whole bunch of numbers and then I would make my point as the coup de grace!

The perfect craps player's dream!

Colored out for a $1300 profit for little less than an hour's play.  Dealers were very appreciative, I was happy I made money, and all this time I still was playing by myself.

All you craps players out there know this doesn't happen very often. :shaka:

Had to stop because family came down and we needed to head out.  Was that a blessing?  Who knows.  I could have continued to win or most likely would have given it all back if I stayed and played.  That is the nature of the dice game.

I'm typing this this morning and now we are headed out to play at the Fremont casino and eat at their new foo-foo food court that replaced their iconic buffet. :(

Our last full day and night in this changed land called Las Vegas.

When I put bets for the dealers at craps, I always go "play control". This way I can choose to press/parlay if the number its.

Sounds like fun and a very fast payment due to you being the only one. Do you bet ATS?

I've learned to just put $5 on the come out roll for the dealers, usually eleven or the field.

The roll came up 11 more times than I can remember.  Really makes the dealers' day/night when a $5 tip gets multiplied 15 times!

Fun fact

Craps dealers split tips with only craps dealers.  They aren't part of the other table games that are combined. Excluding high limit.

1 time I was at the Venetian and saw a reserved craps table. I asked them about it and a high roller is staying with them and they have to be ready when he's ready to play. So they're just standing there. I asked when does he come down and the dealers said "when he feels like it".

I never did, although I heard and read a lot about it.  I would play it.  Don't quote me, but not sure if the Boyd casinos Downtown offer it.  And I've never played craps on the Strip or at the local casinos would you believe, LOL!  But I think some casinos Downtown do offer it.

edited to add:  I do play at the Orleans, which is considered a locals casino.  They offer something like a Repeater or Repeat bet but no ATS.  I didn't play there this trip.  Maybe they offer ATS now not sure.

Yeah, I saw this arrangement at the Green Valley Ranch Casino.  And that High Roller only likes to play by himself.

Another casino I forget which one I think it was Ballys there was this High Roller that would play with the common guys but he demands that one half of the table is for himself only.

So anyway, the kids went their own way I think they went shopping and stuff.  So wife and I went to Magnolia's at the Four Queens Downtown.

It's a simple cafe like the Market ST. Cafe at the Cal.  I've never been there but Danny the Medic of You Tube fame went there and recommend eating their breakfast steak dishes and order a cup of their  well known Gumbo.

So I ordered New York Steak and Eggs with simple white rice and a cup of their Gumbo.  It was great!!

Definitely will order it again in future trips.

We gambled a bit playing all kinds of slot machines at Four Queens, Fremont, and Plaza.  I lost my ass.  ;D  Oh well.  That's how it goes.

By the way, Fremont Casino went through a renovation recently, getting rid of their buffet and putting in a food court, along with interior renovations.  Damn place looks really nice, less crowded, modern looking like the resorts on the Strip.

My wife and I ended up at the Plaza beef jerky place where we easily rang up $150 in beef jerky and snacks to bring home to family.  That's nothing compared to what others spend.

Guess wife and I will go back down to give the casino some more of our money......

Odds are against you for ATS or like bets.  But when it hits, its super exciting.

I have hit ATS Nov 2022.  This is when I began playing it.  Other than that, I've played when the All or Small hit a good number of times thought me playing on a table with the option.  For my own XP, I try to keep a mental note of when it hits or not and because I play it all the time, I am ahead a little for this bet.  Nothing is more of a buzz kill than others playing it and it hits.  As long as it hits once every 30 bets, you break even.  In May 23, we were at Place Station after eating at Oyster Bar and Mrs. CMO hit the Small.  She just needed the 11 for the Tall and All, but crapped out. That run, because they have $10 tables, my inside bet started at $44 and I ended up profiting $300.  It was just the 2 of us on the table.  The pit boss there is from Waianae and moved to Vegas about 20 years ago.

The reason why i get worst odds is because I don't play the pass line, so when the 7 hits on the come out, I lose my $15. Vs. being paid on the pass line so you break even.

Is valet still free at Fremont?

1 trip there, I saw the guard with an empty holster. So I approached him and wispered he's missing his gun. He thanked me for looking out but said he gets it issued in 2 days since he just finished his quals.

Jimmy the Greek made his millions betting on Don't Pass/Don't Come.

He figured, if the odds for those bets favor the house, that's where smart players will put their money.

i see a lot of Hawaii players adopting an interesting strategy.  They place "Don't" bets on all the place numbers for the come out roll.  If the shooter rolls seven, every one of those numbers pays!  If the shooter hits a crap number and the player bet Don't Pass, he wins.  If shooter establishes a point, the Don't number loses, and the player moves all the remaining "Don'ts" to "Pass" place bets.  i guess the theory is, you make way more money than you lose if 7 hits on the come out more often than not.

I play the inside, but if after 2 PSO's in a role or shooters not hitting the inside, I'll then lay the 4 and 10 with enough to almost hedge my bet. So on a $15 table, that's $50 on each.  Lay bets are less obvious than don'ts.

I'm not sure if valet is still free at Fremont.  It always was but nowadays things have changed and free parking and free valets that was once taken for granted is almost gone.  It could still be free if you get it validated at the Registration Desk if you stay, gamble or dine at the property.

One thing I noticed in all the times I stayed at a Boyd Casino property is that the guards were always men.  But on this trip there is a considerable amount of women security guards.  All packing heat.

And I must say they are really good looking, physically fit and look like they can kick ass.  At the Cal there is this one female security guard with the most beautiful and friendly smile.  She greets all the customers with a smile that could melt an ice glacier.
