Are/were you an NRA member?
« on: December 29, 2023, 05:16:12 AM »
If you've ever been an NRA member, past or present,  please select the appropriate response.

If you had a membership before and are no longer a member, just pick "Lapsed."

If you want to specify the type of previous membership, please add a comment.  Also, comment if there's a category I don't have listed.

This is not intended to be a discussion thread on the merits or criticisms of the NRA or NRA-ILA.

Please keep the  opinions to a minimum.  I believe there are already threads for that.

I'm just looking for a tally.

should there be a space for "never"?

No, as I spend my money to HIFICO and other orgs who do something more for HI.

But at least the NRA-ILA  rep for the west coast (Daniel) does show up and submit testimony often.  Can't say the same for others who actually live here and are gun owners.

The instructions ask, "If you've ever been an NRA member, past or present,  please select the appropriate response."

"Never" would not be a logical choice.

You have to read beyond the title.

Sorry if you feel left out.

yes, i understood that
but the way it stands now, no answer equals never, if you add never as a choice, you can get a better idea of how many people never joined
but your poll, you do as you want...

I tried to add more options when creating the poll, but the "Add option" button didn't work.  Limited me to the 5 option fields.

i could have tried to get a moderator to look into it, but I wanted to get this posted before next year rolls around.

So, if you are not a current member,

and your membership hasn't lapsed,

what would you say is left?

It's not an option to select though.

It's not an option to select though.

And why would there need to be such an option?

i treat "No Response" and "Never joined" the same.  Neither adds to the data I want to collect.

Consider the question, "if you ride TheBus, do you prefer mornings or afternoons?"

Why the heck would i include an option for "I've never ridden the bus?"  All that tells me is you have nothing to base an opinion on, so your response is irrelevant.

Okay, fine.  Rules change in effect:

If you've ever been an NRA member, past or present,  please select the appropriate response.

If you've never been a member of the NRA, please post an essay of at least 1,000 words explaining why you hate the second amendment and refuse to spend a paltry sum to further our right for individual liberty and freedom.

Happy now?

No, 1000 essay is too much. 995 is more realistic.

I am a life member with instructor and RSO certs. (certs expired during covid years though )
Why?
The NRA is the standard by which all firearm instructors are judged.
BTW, the police department should respect and thank the NRA for helping to train their officers.
Instead, the police dept tries to invalidate NRA instructors by making new rules.
Back in the day, I helped to train some police officers in concealed carry techniques.
I'm kind of insulted that some bureaucrat would invalidate my certification by requiring me to be a mental health counselor.
ok, I'll shut up now.

Who da hell is HPD to decide which NRA instructor gets "certified" by them.

LOL.

This coming from a Department that had a member leave his rifle unattended during a standoff incident where the suspect was killed because he grabbed their unattended rifle.

sorry.
