"The View" host Sunny Hostin was shocked to discover her family's hidden history in a new episode of the PBS documentary show, "Finding Your Roots."

The documentary show researches prominent figures' family histories through historical records and DNA testing. On the February 6 episode, show host Henry Louis Gates Jr. revealed one of Hostin's ancestors on her maternal side was likely involved in the slave trade in colonial Spain.

Her third great-grandfather also "owned at least one human being," he said.

Hostin, whose mother is Puerto Rican and father is Black, confessed the revelation left her "in shock."

"Wow, I’m a little bit in shock. I just always thought of myself as half Puerto Rican. I didn’t think my family was originally from Spain and slaveholders," she said.

At the very least, congress should pass a law banning former slave owners from being on TV or internet.

There were black slave owners in America.  Something nobody wants to talk about.

She added, "I still believe in reparations. I still believe this country has a lot to do in terms of racial justice."

Despite initially feeling "deeply disappointed" at the revelations, Hostin remarked that she now feels "enriched" knowing her family’s history.

"I'm enriched by knowing that my family has come so far from being enslavers to my mother marrying my father in 1968," Hostin said.

"You're not responsible for what they did," Behar responded.

What happened in history happened.  We learn from it.  But should people today be responsible for what happened then?

Hostin's remarks shows she's either extremely stupid or not capable of thinking things through.
