There is also the establishment of an Office for the Prevention of Gun Violence (SB3349).

It seems that the Feb 14 hearing is all about our 2a rights

Thanks for the heads up.  Looks like the state and county government pukes are going all in.  Emboldened by the idiot called the POTUS.

Hope SCOTUS puts an end to all this BS the lower courts are doing.

Our country is in trouble.  Lower courts no like listen to SCOTUS.  Make up their own rules.  Or use the Aloha Spirit as a weapon to take away our rights.

What else they going use.  Kumbaya?  Circle of Life?  How about You are my Sunshine?
Sometimes you gotta know when to save your bullets.

actually if you think about it 2845 is worse, why??

Because by prohibiting young folks from going shooting, you are discouraging the next generation from enjoying the freedom.
In doing so, the old guys (adults) like me will die off and you have the next generation who don't care because they never had the freedom that we enjoy.
It's social engineering. It's something like abortion. We will end up like communist China with no guns and no freedoms.

Do you understand how this works now? Think spay neutering for freedoms.

SB3196 states you cannot have anyone other than the registered owner poses a rifle at a range or authorized place. So your under 21 people still cannot even touch the rifle. But non-threaded barrel handguns or not DEagle handguns are OK.

I first shot when I was of legal age to do so.  Then went over a decade without shooting again and a few more years on top of that before I became a gun owner (had to move out of mom and dads home 1st).  And here I am today advocating for the 2A right more than the normal HI gun owner does.  Maybe I'm the exception, but Mrs. CMO is the same, never owned a gun until we moved in together.  Maybe she went shooting with a friend once every few years.  So this makes 2 of us who never grew up around guns or taught about them and we're proud gun owners.

i don't like the sound of that SB3042, "Criminal Justice Data Sharing Working Group to work with Office of Gun Violence Prevention", sounds like too much opportunity for gun owners personal & private information to be share with gun control groups, and in the past, that information has been "leaked" to the public (and criminals).
SB3349 will be used to create a govt-funded office which will only push the gun control agenda, nothing about responsible gun safety.  Waste of our tax dollars, and State is always crying about no-money.
SB3040, looks like they are eliminating the requirement to show data based on age, gender, race and country.  and also eliminating the requirement to come up with solutions to address disparities in age, gender, race, county.  "oh, lets delete these requirements for accountability and transparency while we're on a roll here".
SB2845:  doesn't the state have a youth hunting program, helps teach wildlife management?  you can join the army at 18 and be issued a machine gun, but you're not to be trusted touching guns as a civilian.

just my 2 cents.  maybe i'm misinterpreting these?  just my take.  If I got it wrong, let me know.

The Office of Gun Violence was passed into law a few years ago already. But nothing has begun yet as the data is either redundant or won't be shared via federal info.  What these bills are doing is basically lowering the bar of reported info so they can start this bullshit office.  It's also supposed to have 1 pro 2a person to represent the 2a community.  Last time I checked, that was the only position still vacant.  I'll bet they get a fudd to sit on it. "I support the 2A, but..."

Just read the first few lines of this... it's laughable. They say we have some of the strictest gun laws and the 3rd lowest firearm death rate in the nation, then say that's why we need a minimum age requirement on ammunition sales and list states that have one but most of them are states with worse gun crime than us. Man, make it make sense! Also, regarding the pro 2A guy who is supposed to be on the committee to represent us, any bets it'll be the same clown who runs certain gun safety classes?

*Edit:* Submitted my testimony on this one too. This is getting ridiculous, especially considering what the founding fathers would've done by now to these people.

SB3040 Annual public reporting by the AG on CCW licenses issued
don't care

SB3042 Requires the Criminal Justice Data Sharing Working Group to work with Office of Gun Violence Prevention
Has potential for data leaks as more people have access to the data.  It's not to the extent of the California law that exported data to non-government organizations.  However I'm concerned with what "stakeholders" comprise of.  But overall waste of time and money they could better spend on stopping crime.

SB3349 Appropriates money to establish the Office of Gun Violence Prevention appointed by Gov.
We currently have the Gun Violence Commission made up of government representatives.  It hasn't done anything for the past 2 years, which could be seen as a good thing.  They know it was a waste, so they're trying to throw money at it to fix it.  Again waste of time and money

SB2845 Prohibits 21 and under from possessing, purchasing, controlling ammo, or selling to anyone under 21
This one's bad.  Currently under 21 can be loaned firearms.  This law makes that useless.  It'll also destroy hunting in Hawaii. It's difficult for hunting traditions to continue as it's competing with video games and tiktok.  A three year break for these youths means many of them will not go hunting again.

Thank you for the heads up. Sadly these last minute moves seem to be the way the political class in Hawaii works. Definitely spreading the word although last time I got a form letter about “sensible gun control” from my representative.

Has anyone considered forming a PAC to support candidates to get some of these bozos out of office? At least make them sweat. The demographics in Hawaii are changing and with it the voting base. Some of these guys run unopposed.

I’d volunteer and/or donate. Normal folks are fed up with how this place went downhill so fast. There’s a huge opportunity for anti establishment right now

HRA had a PAC before, but I don't think anyone is running it now.

Probably worthy of its own thread. I looked it up. Ballotpedia said that candidates in senate district 14 which was senator Kim’s area raised about 100,000$ between the three people running in 2022. If 100 of us in this form spent the value of one 1000$ firearm purchase - we would have enough to fund three candidates worth of campaigns. That’s cheap when we consider that the proposed laws want to brand us extremists and criminalize ownership of semi automatic firearms. Cheaper and probably faster than a lawsuit is the ability for a candidate to horse trade for a yes/no vote in a committee or a bill. I went to a meeting that poor Sam Slom was at - the dude was the only representative on our side. He got voted out because he got sick and couldn’t campaign. Imagine if we had three. The Hawaii 2a caucus. Especially In newer younger less entrenched areas like Kapolei, makakilo, and Mililani. Maybe someone on the big island. More mainland sure - but probably more people with a clue about the 2a, what it means, and stand opposed to the chaos and decay all around us.

You have to be able to get enough votes to override the fraud. Concentrate on areas with a larger percentage who voted for Trump last time and take advantage of the mail in voting like the other side does. Within the bounds of the law of course

Good idea on paper, but we can't even get more people to donate for lawsuits. If we even had 1,000 gun owners donate $10, then that would mean $10,000. We could basically file various lawsuits for all the gun laws in HI if everyone donated a little.

A good point. I’m probably not engaged enough -  but I’ve never seen a place to donate to an ongoing case. I only check the Hifco page and respond to emails these days. Is there A place to donate? Could
Also ask the shops to tack on 10$ to support our rights.
