eBikes play into their whole "green energy" plan, so no, it won't be banned. We see these kids in Waipahu, zipping around in their Super 73 eBikes without shoes or helmets, hopping into the road and on the sidewalk without regard to cars or pedestrians. We went to a 13yo kid a year ago who was operating one-- without shoes or helmet-- and swerved into oncoming traffic, hitting a Tacoma head-on. Dead, head trauma. The parents showed up and they wanted to beat up the driver of the Tacoma, like it was his fault that their son got into an accident. Supposedly a law has been passed requiring operators to be 18+ and use a helmet, but I have not seen that taken seriously yet. No opposition from the "even if it saves one child" crowd though...

I almost slammed a kid riding an ebike in a crosswalk. It seems as though the ebike kids don't know or don't care about following the rules of the road.

Simon Cowell cracked up twice on those things.  What's with those e-bikes.....does the electro-magnetic waves make you stupid or something?
