Okie dokie

Use the phrase " 'A'ole mākou e ho'olohe"

This translates to "we will not listen/obey" and is the closest to "we will not comply".

I'm recommending mākou over 'o Hawai'i because the latter represents the totality of the islands population while the former is an exclusive plural pronoun specific to those conveying the message.

If you go with the hae Hawai'i colors, it would be red, white and dark azure instead of Old Glory blue.

I would like to have something to offer for sale as a fundraiser for HIFICO. Time is not my friend.

Come to the capitol tomorrow morning if you're free, don't take the day off work.  Vote could be postponed again and Friday is the last day for this bill.

ATTEND THE HEARING ON TUESDAY
Tuesdays vote (2-27-24) on SB3196 AWB hearing is "Decision Making Only" so no oral or zoom testimonies will be taken.  However we still need some people to attend to represent and add the pressure.  Go if you're free that day but don't take the day off work.
1.  Wear a visible and noticeable gun or hunting related clothing.  The Senators need to visually know what you are there for since you can't talk.  Wear a shooting jersey, 2A shirt, hunting camo, orange vest, orange or camo cap, minuteman shirt, or something.
2.  Get there early and make a last minute visit to their offices.
Sen San Buenaventura, Room 213
Sen Mike Gabbard, Room 201
Sen Brenton Awa, Room 203
Sen Brandon Elefante, Room 217
Sen Karl Rhoads, Room 228
3.  The hearing is at 9:33am in room 016 Chamber Level (basement).  It may take about an hour for the SB3196 vote.  Make your presence known when they call the bill number and let them know you're watching them and will remember this.
4.  If you stick around for the end of the hearing thank the senators that opposed the bill.
Recommend trying basement parking at the Capitol on Miller St, should have parking if you go early.  $2/hr with cash or credit cards.   If not, try the other places.  https://ethics.hawaii.gov/.../upl.../2015/07/Capitol-Map.pdf
There is security screening and ID check to enter the capitol.  No weapons allowed.

Ridiculous.
Interesting they went with twenty rounds and not tens. Must’ve been some compromise between the senators

Breakdown

Rhodes announced he would delay the vote so Buenaventura can arrive, she missed her flight. Only Elefante, Gabbard, and Rhodes was present. He said he and her worked on some changes. So he wanted to give her an opportunity to vote on them.

According to the schedule, SB3196 is to be heard after about 5 other bills.

I called Awa's office cause if Rhodes took the vote at that moment, we would lose. His office said guaranz he will be there when the bill comes up for vote.

They were about an hour late and called a recess before SB3196's turn. Buenaventure didn't come back in time from this recess so Rhodes delayed it until the very end of the hearing. So 15 more bills got a vote on in the mean time.  Buenaventura showed up minutes later. Now the full committee is present.

Changes made are:

They deleted assault rifles and shotguns from the bill. Kept 50 cal. Increased mag limit to 20rds. Grandfather for "weapons" (assuming Rhodes meant 50 cals and HI compliant assault pistols).

Awa and Gabbard were the only 2 no votes.

We need to see the new draft to confirm what Rhodes said.

Is the mag capacity just for pistols or all firearms?

It seemed like Rhoads mumbled through the amendments intentionally so we couldn't really hear what he was saying in real time. Maybe he was crying on the inside and got choked up.

Semi Auto pistols that can accept mags over 10 rds deleted? ? 20rds mag limit for all firearms? Antiques Pre 1989 and black powder guns deleted?

When will we see the actual text?
Because I don't believe that they'd actually consider raising the 10 round limit for pistols to 20 rounds. That'd be... A little controversial from a realpolitik sense. Trade 50 cals for an extra 10 pistol rounds?

No way is that what they're going for.

pistols already limited to 10 rds so it would be all firearms.

he also put a defective date, which could mean he recognizes the bill still has issues.

theres still the "one feature"  part on assault pistols, which still means any pistol with a threaded barrel qualifies as assault pistol. im sure theres still lots of bad things but 20rd mag cap is still a big one, when 30rd mags are the standard.

He didn't specify, but I would assume he meant for rifles as that's what this ban would apply to. But I have a hunch about something and want to read the new draft when it comes out.

Apparently CB got early access to the details of the bill... and the aren't sharing
