Saw yesterday that the TX AG won a lawsuit against the Feds for passing the 2022 budget using Unconstitutional procedures.
At issue were 2 things: the lack of a quorum in the House, and the new rules Pelosi and the dems approved to allow proxy voting as the pandemic lockdowns occured.
The constitution requires a quorum be present in both the House and the Senate before any business can be conducted -- and voting is their main business. The rules change allowed members to cast a vote remotely via a proxy who was at the chambers. The rationale was they didn't want to be out and about and catch COVID. This thing is, most of them were campaigning, attending dinners, etc. It appeared COVID was only a threat if they were being careful doing their actual job, but not a threat if they had other things to do.
When the House passed the largest omnibus spending bill in US history, it happened 2 days before Christmas. Fewer than half the members were in chambers, and therefore there was no quorum.
The judge agrees the House violated the constitution, and the 2 parts of the budget the AG was suing over -- main one being federal mandates to provide accommodations for pregnant employees and new parents -- were quashed.
This opens the gates for a slew of similar lawsuits if other states want to follow suit. Too bad it took almost 2 years for this, since most of the new programs and monies allocated are spent. Most fiscal years are spent trying to get rid of that year's funding so as to not have their budgets cut the next year.
When the goP took control of the House, they did away with the proxy vote rule.
This is how the dems win. Not by having better policies and ideas, but by altering the rules and refusing to follow the constitution. Just like Harry Reid lying, if they get away with it, what's anyone going to do about it?
