The mainstream news can't deny the reality any more

It's getting nuts out there because the state won't enforce the laws

Even attempted murder is a "he said she said" now and killers know they can get away with it

The motorcyclist appeared to be going at a high rate of speed based on how he passed all those vehicles. He revved his engine to get attention instead of a horn?

Since when were those valid justifications for smashing someone with a 2000lb vehicle?

Where did I say that was a justification?  That was my observation.

Oh no someone wevved at me. My feewings are so huwt.

i rode bikes starting the Summer before my Sophomore year in college.

On the way home from the bike shop, I was on my brand new Yamaha 650 Special II -- first time ever riding a motorcycle in my life.

The dealer who sold me the bike left the parking lot right after me and caught up to me at a light.  The road was a 6-lane state highway.

As we started off, a woman in the lane to my right changed lanes without signaling almost right on top of me.  I blew my horn, and she never reacted.  She just continued through my lane into the lane on my left then into a left turn lane.

I looked at the dealer.  The only thing he could do was shake his head.  Since then, I've learned and practiced defensive driving techniques specifically for bikers.  Number one thing is to never let your mind wander.  Always scan the road ahead and predict what each vehicle might do that could cause you problems -- lane changes, pulling out from the side roads, merging, trying to take an exit from the wrong lane, etc.

if you're already anticipating what someone might do, you give yourself time and a plan to react.

This biker seemed to be traveling faster than the speed limit and changing lanes closer to others than i would deem safe.  It's almost where he might have been weaving in and out of traffic to maintain his speed.  Hard to tell from the POV camera, but he did make a few lane changes to pass cars.

Bikes are hard enough to see as it is.  Driving at a faster pace than the rest of the traffic means you're not giving the other drivers time to spot you -- one second the lane they are going to merge into is clear, and the next second a bike is there.

I think the biker could have avoided the whole thing by driving more defensively and going with the flow of traffic.  The Honda, on the other hand, should be charged with attempted aggravated assault with a vehicle (aka deadly weapon).  Anyone who purposely tried to strike a motorcycle while on the road is a danger to everyone.

I think this biker was extremely lucky.  I suspect the Honda driver may have been under the influence of something from the way they changed lanes, accelerated and then swerved at him.  It would also explain the horrible judgement demonstrated which could have killed the biker.

Or, maybe just a psychopath who doesn't care what they do to someone else.

the unreasonable one persists in trying to adapt the world to himself.
Therefore, all progress depends on the unreasonable man.

If someone did that to a cop they would be dead

I don't see how having a blast stick would have helped the motorcyclist. He would have to take one hand off the bars to deploy it.

I was trying to make a point about how the media has to finally admit how crazy tings are getting and accidentally derailed the thread.

I wouldn’t trust those sticks. Looks like some kind of Home Alone prank. You miss the one shot and it just makes things worse

I don't see the advantage of a $80 one shot blast stick that looks like can blowback on you over a $15 multi shot bottle of pepper spray.

Blast sticks are the most expensive useless SD gimmick around.  Fairly slow to deploy and outdoors with even a little wind it would be impossible to accurately hit your target. I carry, among other things, a Mace pepper gun.  Quick, 20 ft range and at least 7 one second bursts or constant spray.

I don't think an $80 blast stick would work for me.

Any random stick would do.  I'll just BLAST them with that stick.
