Pls lock up your stuff
« on: December 21, 2012, 08:32:02 PM »
Saw a good word of caution at another forum and not seeing it here, I thought I'd pass along some good advice.

With the price of firearms and ammo going up these days, bad guys are probably taking notice. Make sure you keep your stuff locked up and don't be a target for burglars.

Have a safe and blessed 12/21 weekend everyone!

Good point

That's a good point but also for others reasons. The antis are screaming that even if they enact stricter legislation regarded the mentally disturbed, it wouldn't prevent someone from stealing a gun from a law abiding citizen. If all gun owners actually had gun safes and secured their firearms, less would end up in the hands of criminals and the mentally disturbed. Of course you couldn't stop an armed criminal forcing you to open your safe (providing someone got in this position) or people just not having safes but if would surely help. I suspect a whole lot of weapons get stolen from law abiding citizens during burgularIes while they are not occupying their residence.

I read somewhere that thousands of firearms are stolen every year. However, according to this one source only 10-15% of the crimes involving guns are stolen guns. Interestingly, corrupt FFLs seem to be significant contributors to the problem.

Sports authority?  There are a bunch of entry level stack on safes there. If you want better protection and have more $$, check out the higher grade models. I think the local gun stores should have some.

Even the fireproof one at Costco would be better than nothing.

Stolen firearms are used in these heinous crimes...
