if "Assault Weapons" = Rifles, then someone explain this....

FBI's Murder statistics for 2011

Because after all the public wants the problem to be solved.  Oh and they don't support an outright ban just "Assault Weapons" because they can kill more people and a faster rate.

I'm doing my part to ensure that those evil black rifles stop getting bad press.

If someone breaks into my house, I promise to use my 12 gauge shotgun.  :D

Stats tell the truth.

People are blindly led to believing that adding the word "assault" to a semi automatic rifle means that its more deadly.

The reality as I've stated in an earlier post is that knives are used in more murders than rifles.

Where's the outcry and ban talk for knives?

Idiots...

The use of "assault" for weapons reminds of the term "tactical " to sell gear.

Add "tactical" to anything; its instantly better with a much higher price tag.
Add  "assault" to anything; it has to be evil, military use only and must be banned. Oh yeah, it adds to the price too.

Beware of the Magpul tactical assault spoon, they are tripling in price and will be banned very soon ! >:D

3.7% of all gun murders, and only 2.5%of total murders committed with rifles of any kind, and that includes small rifles like 10/22's, hunting rifles, and the like.

contrast that to 4.1% and 2.8%, respectively, for shotguns

and 72.4% and 49.1% for handguns.  the rest of firearms murders are unknown gun types.

but hey, let's focus on the weapons LEAST likely to kill you.

If someone was shooting at...hmmmmm let me see, whos stupid? Piers Morgon!

and he had a choice between grabbing a bolt action and an "assault" rifle, what rifle do you think he would grab?

He would grab the bolt action.....   why?

Because he would get a thrust kick straight in the chest from me as I grab the "assault" rifle first......hehehehehe ;D (Sorry, someone had to)

Hey, if they ban Evil Black Rifles, and cause the James Holmes' of the world to switch to Ruger Gunsite Scout rifles to inflict carnage, at least the media will be inadvertently correct when they call it a "high-powered" rifle.
