All jokes aside, what if you stripped naked and began touching yourself and approaching the intruder?  Would they stay or think you're crazy and leave. But what if they too strip naked, now you're in even deeper kimchi.

There's a prankster who goes to the hood and calls people out. And of course, they don't back down and start throwing gang signs as they approach him to fight. He then takes off his clothes and was wearing a Borat bikini.  They all ran away.  But, IDK how much was edited out of guys who didn't run.

On a serious note, my bedside gun has a WML on it. Because odds are, someone would break in while you're sleeping if you're home.  To reach the light switch that is across the room, may not be possible in time.  My AR also has a light on it. Mrs. CMO's AR doesn't have a light on it as it's 3rd draft choice if it's needed.

My EDC gun has no light as it would add extra weight and I'm not LEO where I need to be scanning in the dark when outside my home.  But I do EDC a handheld light anyways.

I no need any weapon.  I would shower them with so much Aloha that they would feel bad and leave.

Thanks guys for all the good info!!

We rarely go to the range now
- stopped going during covid
- then the lead issue
- then having to make reservations (we usually go with a group of coworkers….so we used to go early so we could all stay together)
- grandkids
- other interests (tennis, golf, etc)

So I’ll likely still keep a revolver in the room for her since it is simpler to use and she doesn’t have much time with handguns.  She mostly shot a bull barrel ruger mark 3 22lr  semiauto when we went to silly.  She didn’t like 9mm pistols.   We still have to go back to the range to shoot the revolver.   I’m thinking/hoping she will like shooting the 38 special revolver.  I hear they are relatively tame/mild.  (Reminder to keep earpro and a headlight or handheld light next to it)

I think I’ll also keep one of the semi auto shotguns in the bedroom with earpro….since she has some experience at trap.  (Reminder to buy some #4 buckshot.  And a light mount and a light)

Good point about pepper gel not being ideal if they have handguns

So now I’m thinking of using an AR…..scary looking….and can overmatch bad guys with handguns if they decide to still stick around. Im thinking my AR in 7.62x39…cause I ran across YouTubers saying 556 sucks so they use 308 rifles (Tim on MAC).  I don’t have an AR10 but I do have a 7.62x39 AR and SP ammo.

(I’m sure 556 is fine for 99.99% of home scenarios…so maybe I’ll go 556….i can see myself changing back and forth on this depending on what I’m watching on YT)

I have a mounted light on it.  Using a handheld light while holding a longarm might be challenging.   Maybe get a headlight??

Thanks for the suggestions and guidance!  It’s a big step up from a light and pepper spray…and a machete.

I have a friend who bought his first rifle and got the AR platform in AK rounds. The mag was like an AK and so was the mag release.  This takes some practice to insert and release. Comapred to the AR 556 platform, it's much easier.  So this may be a factor if the wife ever needed to use the rifle.

I've had my AR for some years now and have trailed with it.  When I use an AK platform, I have trouble inserting the mag due to having no practice doing it.

Generally, Mrs. CMO and I train for various events.  Esp now with CCW and EDCing a firearm.

THe hard part would be the unknown situations, but what training has taught us is you train thru the problem. Figure it out.  Which is the main thing we learned taking HDF skill builders. Just because there's a jam or something, the exercise doesn't stop. Yeah, your time will suck, but finish the exercise and solve the problem.

If you're wife is interested "Bows and Bullets" host women only events a few times a year. The most recent one was last month at the GOP HQ on Kapiolani Blvd. There was no live shooting, but basic handgun safety and there was supposted to be a OC spray lecture, but the teacher was sick.  I think the next one might be in October.

CMO - thanks for the heads up on the women only events!!   Didn’t know we have women only events!

I’m thinking maybe we’ll try to also do trap again so she can get more reps. Shooting trap isn’t ideal training for HD but at least she gets some kind of trigger time.

I think our biggest issue is making time to get to the range.  She is looking at joining tennis leagues  which likely means me attending the matches for support and helping to train her and her teammates

Be sure that any firearms to be used by either of you are joint registered.   :geekdanc:
You don't want to be guilty of her illegally possessing,or controlling your firearm and you don't want her guilty of  illegally possessing or controlling your firearm.
Multiply penalty if non-registered owner discharges said firearm.

This def goes for handguns.  Because if you're not near her or home, you cannot let her use it.

For rifle/shotty, you have to make sure you tell HPD that you allowed her to "borrow" it as of that day.  HI law gives a 15 day borrow for in state. If you forget to say this, then see above like the handgun.

I mean, you should be keeping your mouth shut anyways and so should your wife, until you speak to a lawyer. But in a high stress situation, one might forget and answer this question by HPD "did your husband let you borrow the gun?".

Hawaii is a state run by Japanese, Chinese, and Hawaiians.
All those cultures despise individual freedom.
What do you expect?

I expect educated, fair, and logical people running the state.  Not a bunch of self-serving greedy asshats.

Don't care what culture or ethnicity they are from.

And don't tell me caucasians can do any better.  An asshat is an asshat.

If you live alone, then fogger OC might make sense.  Flood the house with OC and stay behind a locked door.

Going to suck cleaning it up later tho.

Good point!!   I didn’t think of that at all

I assume we still have to get permits because of the background check.
