One point: Harris wants to increase the number of Border Patrol Agents. This is true, and it was true of Biden.
The problem is, they don't want the additional agents to secure the border and stop border jumpers. Oh, no -- not at all.
They want more agents to PROCESS illegals coming into the country, because there are so many, the current number of agents at processing centers can't handle them all.
Trump disagreed with the bill for many reasons. The main reason was that bill made illegal entry into the country legal. The bill said we would ACCEPT 5,000 ILLEGALS PER DAY! WTF!
Imagine a bill to "accept" 5,000 capital crimes per day. The first 5,000 murders, rapes, and political assassination attempts would be pardoned automatically. Numbers 5,001 and beyond would have to wait until tomorrow!
Yeah, Trump and the Senate didn't like the bill. This is a typical tactic. Create a bill that has 98% reasonable and needed provisions, but then try to sneak in a couple of "poison pills" -- provisions that the other party will never accept on their own. Either you succeed in passing those bad provisions in order to get the improvements you really need passed, or you vote it down and get raked over the coals for voting against much needed changes and/or funding.
I thought this was going to be fixed when Congress voted to give presidents line-item veto power. Looks like that was another bait and switch which I'm sure the other side benefitted from.
Unraveling Misinformation About Bipartisan Immigration Billhttps://www.factcheck.org/2024/02/unraveling-misinformation-about-bipartisan-immigration-bill/Sometimes it's easy to recognize these disastrous bills. If they get lucky and it passes, we get stuck with the provisions that should have never passed. If it doesn't pass, it's because they expected it not to. They know ahead of any vote whether or not a bill has the necessary votes. The main reason they put these DOA bills up is so they can use them politically against those who voted it down.
