The left is fighting for Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) in all aspects of public and private hiring. They then demand DEI training for all employees to create understanding and acceptance of a 'diverse' workforce.
This is not a new concept. We used to call this "Affirmative Action," which has been deemed discrimination and illegal according to SCOTUS as it applies to college admissions policies.
With all this attention given to race and other "minority" categories, one would think the Left would celebrate the acknowledgement that a Presidential candidate is a DEI hire, right?
Wrong! The Left says calling Harris a DEI candidate is an insult. It assumes she was hired for her DEI qualifications alone.
That's been the whole argument against Affirmative Action hiring practices for decades. The same immutable characteristics that can get you hired or promoted ahead of White male counterparts can also stigmatize you as only being hired or promoted for those characteristics -- not that you are better qualified for the job.
As with most of these programs, it embodies the Left's ideology that minorities need help to achieve what the majority achieves without the same help -- i.e.
the soft bigotry of low expectations.
Is it
just an assumption that Harris was chosen, not because she was the best of the candidates Biden could choose from, but because of her gender and/or ethnicity?
it's hilarious to me to see the Left stepping all over themselves.
