Thank you so much State Department of Law Enforcement.

I'll let the criminals out there know.

By the way, why aren't you transparent if any citizen wants to observe you destroying the firearms that are turned in?

Again, thank you so much for your efforts to keep us citizens safe.

Yes, I would like to know do the guns ever get destroyed or are they sold off on some black market to sketchy folks who will not use them to commit crimes?

I won't trust these fools for one g0dd@mned minute! A $100 dollar foodland gift card, that will cover one trip to the market thanks to Harris-flation (Yes she's the vp and it's totally her fault)!

They're supposed to be destroyed, unless they were linked to a crime, then stored as evidence.  Which means HPD will run all serial numbers.

I have no idea which method HPD uses to "destroy" guns:  totally pulverized, or some parts pulverized while others are resold to recover costs.

Questions rise with gun buyback programs:
Do the guns get completely destroyed?

Quote
"That has created a niche market for companies like GunBusters. There are a
lot of other ones, and what GunBusters does is, say we have two tiers of service.
One is that you can pay us and we will totally pulverize the gun. The second is
we will come get the guns for free and even transport them for free, but we are
only going to pulverize certain parts of that gun, and we're going to put the rest
for sale to the public," Yaw said.

The success is eliminating guns from citizens who are law abiding.  For reasons of their own they chose not to possess those firearms anymore and this is a convenient way to get rid of unwanted firearms, while getting chump change to buy poke and beer.

The criminals still have their guns.

So in my opinion their "success" is bullcrap.

I think every Democrat should give up their guns
to their Democrat government.
The rest of us will watch.
We will also refuse to clean up the mess.
Just leave the bodies where they lay
for animals to eat.

Looks like only 17 evil guns were turned in. Some of the guns shown in the pics would
fetch a lot more than $200. People should realize that the money allocated for the buy back
is funded mainly by their tax dollars.

Don't forget, the state likely needs to contract out the task of destroying those guns.  So, that costs taxpayers even more after the turn-in.  If the state allows the contractor to destroy certain parts while reselling the rest on the open market, then the statement that these guns were "taken off the street" is only true in part.  The components that get sold help put other guns back on the street in their place, making it a net zero gain.

You are right Flapp. It is likely to be more of a gun parts recycling program.
We will probably not be able find out the terms and conditions of the recycling.

Give the state time to complete the buy-back destruction, then do a FOIA request for all the info pertaining to this buy-back -- how much was spent in compensation cards, how much it cost the taxpayers for Saturday man-hours, operating vehicles, storage and transportation of firearms collected, etc.

Like any public program, the information should also be made public.

My only issue with the buybacks is taxpayer money is being used.

Everytown should be paying for it if it's that important to them.  They can pay for the gift cards and special duty officers
