The suspect — identified as Ryan Routh, 58, of Hawaii — was able to get between 300 to 500 yards of Trump at a chain link fence on the edge of the course where he had an AK-47 and a GoPro camera set up to apparently film the planned shooting.

Despite his criminal record;
Routh's eldest son, Oran, told CNN via text that Routh was "a loving and caring father, and honest hardworking man... I don't know what's happened in Florida, and I hope things have just been blown out of proportion, because from the little I've heard it doesn't sound like the man I know to do anything crazy, much less violent."

Background checks show Routh is originally from North Carolina. He has a criminal background that includes multiple felonies- one for Possessing a Weapon of Mass Destruction and one for Possessing Stolen Goods. He has a number of misdemeanor convictions as well. His criminal record goes back to 2001.

I'm so curious as to what kind of weapon of mass destruction he got convicted for.

Seriously, though, I hope it becomes available.  My guess is a grenade, maybe?

When I was in the National Guard we do annual training with live weapons and one of them is grenades.  So we were training and if 60 grenades get issued, there very damn well have 60 expended grenade pins handed back in.

On that particular day, only 59 was handed in.  (I'm using 60 as an example but what happened was one less grenade pin was not accounted for)

It's a big deal.  They stood us in formation for hours, while they tried to figure out if it was stolen, being hidden, or if it was a logistical mistake.

After hours and hours of making sure everyone is accounted for while they figured it out, they seemingly solved the problem.  What happened was never disclosed.

What did he do wrong? Do you support the 2A? He was practicing open carry on public property right? Did he break the law or was he just minding his own business and was fired upon?

The way most here criticize Hawaii Laws, I'm surprised more people aren't supporting his right to open carry.

Maybe this is incident is a reason that we should not allow open carry anywhere and need to have some regulations and restrictions. You might blame Florida's lax gun laws for this incident.
