When a Non-Endorsement is an Endorsement
« on: October 28, 2024, 12:50:52 PM »
Recently, the Teamsters Union made a public statement that they would not be endorsing a presidential candidate for 2024.

Now, both the LA Times and Washington Post are saying they, too, will not be giving their endorsement to any candidate.

When the Teamsters made the announcement, Trump thanked them.  When asked if he understood he was not getting their endorsement, he replied, "They might was well have."

If a California newspaper can't force themselves to endorse Kamala, both a former CA Attorney General and a US Senator from CA, it's a sign they think she's about to lose.  The paper is trying to avoid endorsing the loser.

WaPo & LA Times REFUSE To Endorse Kamala,
Staffers RESIGN En Masse FURIOUS

When it's cool to support the wrong side and be loud and proud about it, silence is golden.

Like when Usher said he don't want to disclose who he supports as it doesn't matter, only to support Harris a few weeks later.  Diddy files got to him.

I don't know if Bezos is making a financial decision or a principled one but either way I support his decision to have the paper no longer endorse candidates. It is the right step to improve journalism

Think harder. Why do you think it's only now this is happening.

That's hilarious!

Quote
In "a note from our owner" published Monday evening, Bezos said that editorial
endorsements create a perception of bias at a time many Americans don't believe
the media, and do nothing to tip the scales of an election. Bezos added that he
wished the decision to end presidential endorsements had been done earlier, and
blamed "inadequate planning, and not some intentional strategy."

The bias is real.  Political endorsements don't prove that -- their biased reporting does.

you just have to google Washington Post Trump to see the anti-Trump slant they project.

Thinking harder won't make me a mind reader. Yes, there are financial conflicts of interest however that doesn't mean he doesn't have journalistic principles. You are free to suspect it is out of a financial incentive but we will never know.
