If I'm reading it right, the bill needed to be vetoed. It was a good thing that the city council didn't override his veto, assuming you're for stricter fireworks laws.

Correct me if I'm wrong.

The discussion at City council is that the current fireworks laws don't work (ex: every NYE) and this bill would relax the law. Why keep a law in if it doesn't work?

We need HPD and the Department of Justice to be willing to enforce and convict those who break the laws.

The fact that illegal fireworks are making their way into the islands speaks volumes.

No wonder the ainokea spirit is alive and well on NYE.

There's a difference between "unenforceable" and "not enforced."  Laws don't have to be unenforceable to not be enforced.
