Norm's Sportsman Shop?
« on: January 02, 2013, 11:00:16 AM »
As I drove by Security Equipment (on Young St.) this morning I noticed a crew taking down the Security Equipment sign and installing a new sign that said "Norm's Sportsman Shop" or something like that.  Anyone know what is going on?  I called on the telephone but a recording said they are closed till Friday.

I got a Twitter from SEC this morning saying they're closed today and tomorrow but will be open for regular hours on Friday. Norman Cheung and his wife the handgun safety class for SEC and but we call him Norm for short.....not sure if this is related in any way

I saw that too. I guess there's a new shop in town.

Someone said the name change was to film a scene for Hawaii five-0.

That would make more sense, didn't hear no indication of them having troubles or selling the shop.

Maybe it's to get rid of the scary "assault name" and change to a more friendly name :P

Yes, the Hawaii 5-0 connection sounds more plausible.

The sign change because of Hawaii Five-0 would be a relief.   I'll drive by today and see if there are any film crews in the area.

I don't know about you but it's a relief to me that the name Security Equipment will not be going away.  I drove by a few minutes ago and a film crew was setting up their equipment.  I assume it's Hawaii Five-0.  I guess the Norm's Sportsman's Shop is for the filming.

I just looked and there doesn't seem to be a film crew outside "Norm's Sportsman Shop" right now, just a bunch of people and police officers standing around. However, there is a sizeable film crew gathered inside the 5th floor of the parking structure for the Interstate Building across the street.

Maybe Nobama is checking out the store?!?

Nah, nah, nah, just kidding!!

I did drive by Alan Wong's last night and half of King Street (the half closest to Alan Wong's) was effectively shut down with a variety of HPD, EMT (and what I assume to be Secret Service) vehicles parked up and down the street near the restaurant.

Guess Nobama enjoys the Pan-Pacific cuisine at Alan Wong's!!

He visits AW's whenever he's in town. Our friends were in the restaurant the same night as him once and got a warning about taking pics ::)

Is it 28000 or 29000?

Wouldn't surprise me.  Last refueling stop on US soil before the west coast.
