Random CCW question !!
« on: December 24, 2024, 04:25:59 PM »
I just recently purchased my first pistol a Glock 45. I got it basically for how it fit my hand but because this is the Glock 17 sized handle I’m debating on getting something smaller to use for the CCW permit.
The Glock 49 is the reversed dimensions with longer slide and shorter (Glock 19) size handle, and the slides are interchangeable between the two pistols.

If I got the 49 and switched to CC basically a Glock 19 would that be possible and legal?

Ccws are based on the serial # on the gun.

Welcome to the forum. Please don't take this as being condescending but what you are calling a "handle" should be correctly called a "grip".  :stopjack:

You could get the Glock 49 and have essentially a Glock 17 and 19.  You'd have to shoot your CCW test with the "G19" gun.

You seem like a new shooter and I would discourage buying anything new yet. Practice what you got and see what other people are shooting.  Sometimes people will let you try their guns if you ask at Koko Head.

your ccw is based upon the serial number, which is on the grip/lower, not the slide...

How can a Glock 45 or 49 be a Sig P226?

The G45 is a fine pistol.  If this is your first (or you're relatively new to shooting), recommend you spend your funds on ammo (and training if available) and find what you like/dislike about the G45.

Personally, I can CCW a 17 just fine, though I also carry a 43x.  Lots depends on your build, clothing preferences, etc.  The G45 does have the G17 size frame, but don't think most people give up that much between that and the G19 size in terms of printing.  I used to CCW 19s as well, but have since gone with 17/45 and 43x/48 as main pistols.
