Trump visits the CA fires

Barely a week in office and he is visiting and meeting officials in regards to tragic events. And he tells them straight up how they are doing.

I'm sure a lot of Lahaina residents feel the way Trump thinks. They weren't allowed to rebuild until after their property was deemed "safe" by the State. This long process meant that "toxic" materials be scraped off and removed, inspected and approved for rebuild.
Residents are at the whim of the government both Federal and State.
Look at the govt's plan.

FEMA is just another admin layer between Federal assistance (money) and the State.
Of course #immadoctor defended FEMA despite its inefficient bureaucracy

There were some complaints in Lahaina, especially about the housing program when FEMA contractors from the continent wasted money on vacant units outside of West Maui, and paid rents for emergency units that jacked up the cost of housing and led to some tenants being displaced.

Trump seemed to have heard similar complaints on his visits.

“FEMA gets here and they don’t know the area,” the president said. “They’ve never been to the area and they want to give you rules that you’ve never heard about. They want to bring people that aren’t as good as the people you already have.”
