You sound like the HPD LT. who was at the hearing yesterday about places to keep gun parts.  He said something like "do you really think if someone is carrying a spring (gun spring) that they will be charged?" Eventhough, that's what the bill says. Same guy also said that carrying a lower receiver cannot be charged with places to keep.  So I guess one can buy a gun from a gun store and as long as they disassemble it in some manner so the gun cannot fire, they no longer have to go straight home.  Same with going to and from the range, now you can stop and get lunch and leave the gun in the car.

I question this Lt. knowledge of the law and the DLE acting chief's one as well.  Good thing the internet is forever and one can use this as a defense to violating places to keep.

Yep.  Claiming a law is not going to be enforced should not be an argument for passing that law (or keeping it), but rather demonstrates they are wasting our time and money passing laws that will do nothing for public safety.  It would only allow for prosecutors to add more charges after someone is arrested for real, enforced crimes.

It's not up to the public to know if a law is enforced.  We are supposed to follow all laws.  Laws that are not enforced should be repealed.

Trump was tried and convicted of violating laws that no other developer in NYC has ever been accused of.  So the theory that a law "will not be enforced" is more wishful thinking than truth.
