There is more to the steel company issue than they let on. The argument of national security needing American companies to control American steel production was the face of it because it sounds good but when you look behind the curtain it also was the case that keeping the Japanese company out meant that another big American steel company could come in and buy that company which would give it a huge market share. This is why the union guys and other steel company was trying to make it like a patriotic and security issue.
