In my opinion anyway.

He said one of his first priorities is to change public perception that Hawaii's LE is dirty. (in reference to his foremost goal in addressing the illegal fireworks problem.)  He wants to gain the public's trust first.  So that's his first priority.

No.  The public has long seen LE in Hawaii as dirty.  Been that way for more than one can remember.  Crackdown on illegal firework use and enforce the laws governing illegal fireworks.  Convict, punish, and incarcerate.

That's how you regain the public's trust.

Nuff of this bullsh*t.

So, enforcing the law (fireworks ban or any other law) isn't something they do if they don't want to.

But, when their public image and accusations of corruption are on the line, suddenly it's time to start enforcement?

I don't give people praise and promotions for merely doing their jobs.  i give them the boot for not doing it.  Call me crazy.   :crazy:

This state is run so badly that if they tried to enforce half the laws on the books the whole justice system would crumble under the weight.

It's not going to get any better, so try and stay friendly with your neighborhood gangsters.  :shaka:
