Here's a list of things not to do when trying to get an attorney's help, especially if you are looking for pro-bono work (free services). Steven is an attorney that helped me with some civil rights cases in Hawaii like Young v Hawaii and legalization of Tasers. Now he litigates 2A lawsuits for GOA, with the most famous being Antonyuk in New York challenging sensitive places laws. I've also been helped by other local attorneys who graciously do their work pro-bono. They send me their gripes about people with bad cases, bad attitude, difficult to work with, etc. This is good general advice for different types of attorney services from civil rights, administrative, criminal law, etc.
Legal services can be very expensive running $200/hr to $1,000/hr which most people can't afford. Pro-bono services are limited and hard to find so it's good to know these things.
