Range Report Sunday 1/6
« on: January 06, 2013, 05:40:37 AM »
Got here about 5:15am and there are about 6 or 7 benches open. So far it has been quite windy but no rain. Hopefully the rain will stay away today.

pretty windy out here at times. Sun is just starting to come up so it is getting windier. It feels like 5 to 10mph constant with gusts up to 20-25mph. That is just my estimate, though.

Not a 5.56 day then. Cool I'll bring out the 308 instead. Thanks

Another great day. People shooting zombies, tin cans, bowling ball pins to my left and right. People practicing drawing from holsters, rabid fire. Pretty cool. Motivated me to look at muzzle brakes. Looking at the BCM comp. or VLTOR. Shooting in the wind offhand with a 22lr is a great challenge. Windy with small episodes of drizzle.

Where were you shooting. I didn't know you could do all this @ Kokohead.

I am surprised you would even think about shooting any 5.56 or .308. Way to expensive to replace if you can even find any anywhere. Craziness at mainland stores

Hopefully you're not there by yourself. If you are sleep or just talk story with whoever is on the benches nearby. Thankfully everytime I've gone there I had other people with me so it wasn't bad, but most of the shooters there are pretty easy to talk to. Met some really good guys there in the morning

not sure on caliber restriction, but the distance isn't very far. we usually don't shoot anything higher than .308 for rifles.

Don't bring your kids with you that early. Way too much swearing from those early birds. Every other word is F this or F that!

.308 is not allowed on the action bay side, as far as I know.

.223, 5.56, 7.62x39 are maximum rifle calibers allowed.

On the opposite side of the range.

The silhouette, rifle and pistol side are on the Mauka side.

The action bays, trap and skeet are on the Makai side.

Mauka Makai ?  The range is in a valley.

Isn't the archery range Makai ?
