Would banning TikTok have any effect on this kind of insanity? (Read 1218 times)

Public Nuisance prank videos are a big deal especially on TikTok.

Pranksters use public displays of nuisance, disorderly conduct and faked crimes to post videos for viral views.  One well-publicized incident involved two pranksters who would walk up to a stranger, get in their face, and basically intimidate them for no reason other than to record their reactions.  Well, on Door Dash delivery guy happened to be carrying more than his customer's food when he shot the prankster.  That prankster lived, but he's apparently still making content.  The delivery driver's life is now ruined because of a prank for clicks.

In South Korea, one such prankster has been arrested, has already plead guilty to two charges, and is supposed to hear his fate this month on the most serious charge.

In the US, however, these idiots hide behind their freedom of speech even when they are causing severe distress for their prank victims.

the unreasonable one persists in trying to adapt the world to himself.
Therefore, all progress depends on the unreasonable man.

The updated guidelines say that pranks " that lead victims to believe they are in
physical danger or that can cause real physical harm" or "that may cause emotional
distress to children" are no longer allowed on the platform. This change comes
after years of controversy surrounding the existence of prank channels and
discussions about whether they should be allowed on the video streaming platform.

Hollywood is dismantled by social media. Hollywood was the gatekeeper to fame and fortune now its days are numbered.

I think countries preferred to just kick him out rather than to bother to try and incarcerate him.
I have seen at least one street justice video of him getting assaulted.

I agree though, banning TT wouldn't do much, just shift to a different platform.
