just curious. what side of the fence you fall on? I personally have both and love shooting both being prior service, I'd have to say I'm an ar guy. I just have way more trigger time and training on this platform. which one are you?

AR, all day, every day.  I think the difference in stopping power is overrated, much like how a 9mm wouldn't kill a mean kitten, whereas everyone knows that even a single near miss from a .45 will result in potentially fatal trauma.  Other than that, the only thing the AK has got going for it is reliability, and since I'm not an illiterate goat herder who uses lard for gun oil, I don't see much of an advantage.

i love ak's but if i only chose one, i would choose ar all day.  If there's a shtf situation where i need reliability without much lube, then i'd choose a piston ar.  ;D (which i own several).  I like the .30 caliber bullet of the 7.62x39, but i don't like the curve it requires in teh magazine.  ar15 magazines are so much easier to carry.

I love the way it kicks and hits the gong at 440 yards.

3/4" groups at 100 yards using Silver Bear.  Awesome!

I like them both.  Have 7 AR's at home (picked 5 up BEFORE the election...think ahead, people!) and one Chinese AK.  I shoot the AR's more often because I have way more 5.56 than 7.62x39, but if I had unlimited amounts of both ammo, my AK and one (or three!) AR's would be with me at the range all the time.
