With millions of ARs and other firearms in circulation, that would not be a wise choice. Executive orders can only go so far. Checks and balances.

No can.  It would lead to his immediate impeachment.

Don't be so sure.  Gun owners are the minority in the equation.  To assume otherwise is dangerous.

Gun owners are a minority, but those who support the Second Amendment are still in the majority, and this isn't even a Second Amendment thing.  Everyone who's not a dues-paying member of the Brady Campaign would be able to recognize the problem with Obama ordering the confiscation of privately-held property on nothing more than his say-so.  It won't happen.

We are in the postion that the Founders wanted so desperately to avoid: tyranny of the majority

We are no longer a representative republic.  We are a demogoguery where the combined squeaking of three wheels has drowned out the fourth.

People say that multi-party systems don't work well because it takes too much of a coalition to get anything done.

Sometimes I think "getting nothing done" might be a good idea.

I do believe that the radical and crazy notion that the Founders meant what they said, is gradually soaking through the judicial system.

I have never been able to see the problem when some newsperson whines about how "this is the least productive Congress in history, in terms of new legislation passed."  I always applaud when I hear that.

Fuck those  guys and everyone else that is for the gun ban. Are they fucking dumb, we will definitely have the next civil war if they ban guns. There are hundreds of thousands of gun owners out there wiling to kill any government officials who try and confiscate their rights to bare arms. Feinstein, Biden, Obama can fuck themselves! I would have never voted for Obama if I knew he was going to do this, hypocrite!

How did you not see this coming?  I'm not trying to belittle you, I'm honestly curious as to why you thought Obama was a better candidate.

I am just sayin'.... a few things come to mind like indefinite detention, assasination of American citizens without due process (drone strikes), not to mention the modifications to our "Free Speech" First Ammendment rights.  From what I see, the tide has begun turning and all it takes is a few more whackos to ruin it.

True, but bear in mind also that indefinite detention, drone strikes, and all the rest requires the complicity of the military, a group which voted for Romney over Obama, 70%-30%.

Maybe is it possible that a lot of this pro-gun control controversy might be being used as a "red herring" to distract us from the fact that our economy is on the road to ruin?

Gun control legislation can be sensationalized and exploited by the media to spike sales; discussion of how best to address our lack of control of our fiscal policies... not so much...
This is a good point, and probably pretty close to the x.

to be fair, Obama has had pretty much no part to play in this as of yet.  he's made a couple of speeches, but its the media and the congressmen, most notably Cali and NY democrats that have been taking any actual action.  the fact that biden has, for the millionth time, has to assure people that obama is doing something just shows how much of a no show he's been.

as for the executive order, there is no way its going to take guns.  stop that bullshit.

he's most likely just going to reform the background checks law to close off the no background checks for private sellers and/or require everything to run through an FFL.  a law which wont be enforceable in states that dont require registration anyways.

This is the same thing we heard about him throughout his first term.  It's how we were supposed to console ourselves when he won re-election.  Now you're telling me he has no part in this while his task force reviews what restrictions can be enacted, in addition to an assault weapons and magazine ban.  I suppose you'll tell me he has nothing to with this while his blue-ribbon panel's proposals are being debated in Congress, and you'll continue to assure me he has nothing to do with gun control, even while the autopen signs a new assault weapons ban into law.

Well if the military is complicit in the above then....... see what I'm sayin'?  The above are contrary to the Constitution that is sworn to be upheld?  Because they have assaulted several other Constitutional Ammendments they are going to stop at the 2nd?  The only thing I am trying to say is watch your six because we can sit here all day and say it ain't happening but when it does I certainly won't be surprised.

How can ANYONE feign ignorance over Obummer's track record on guns?! All one had to do is research the laws he voted for while a state Senator and the Senator from Illinois. I never voted for this Chicago Marxist piece of shit, because I knew exactly what he was/is: a radical cryptocommunist.

no, im saying that he's far from the driving force behind any of this, and the fact that biden has to keep telling people they're doing something, indicates to me that obama hasnt really been a part of the process, it has been driven by Congress and the media.  he's been cheering from the sidelines thus far instead of getting into the game.  thus far, he has yet to produce ANYTHING solid from either him or his committee.

and there will be no AWB for the autopen to sign.

This part we agree on, but I strongly disagree that he's been sitting on the sidelines.
