Cost of .22LR?
« on: January 10, 2013, 11:40:29 AM »
I'm looking to pick up a case of .22LR somewhere and was wondering whats the best price you folks have seen locally in an LGS or other.

About a year ago I picked up a 5K case of Remington Viper .22LR, which my 22/45, loves from OGC for $315 (6 cents/rnd).  Took me about a year to shoot it all, but I want to get another case.

YG? SEC? GS? OGC? KFC?

It might not be the cheapest, but I picked up 500 for 30 something at SA.

it was winchester super x I think.  Its not the cheapest price, but sports authority is close to me so I don't mind paying a couple extra for the convenience on something small like .22.

Last time I shopped for 22 lr, Young Guns had a few different types for around $30/500.  Federal Champion (I don't buy anymore), CCI Blazer in a black and grey box and I believe another brand, maybe American Eagle.

oh, that's good prices.

i never go by young guns cause it's so far out of the way, but if they have different brands, i may have to.

the lever action my father has only shoots winchester super x reliably, out of the other brands we've tried (some remington golden bullet, and american eagle).  i heard blazers were good stuff, always meant to try them out.  the other brands so far wont chamber easily, and trying to close the action to shoot often bends the casing or gets the bullet stuck.

Just went to SA in Kapolei and Waikele and both are out of 22lr. All they had was some Winchester 22 Magnum. Chances are all the SA are out of 22lr.

I recommend YG, OGC and for the best selection and not so great prices WGS.

SEC sells 525 rounds of blazer for 26 bucks.  That's where I always buy mines.

it's been awhile since I ordered, but you can try here:

www.champchoice.com

not sure if they changed policy for shipping to Hawaii.
I've also ordered primers from Sinclair online
I have a case on my way for $260
