MS Windows 11 Update Warning
« on: August 28, 2025, 12:27:02 PM »
From what I gathered, a MS update recently released is wreaking havoc with Windows 11 users.

The problem affects solid state storage devices like SSD's and NVME's that use certain controller chips.

The glitch can cause the device to disappear from the OS during large data writes like installing a game.  Usually the drive reappears after a reboot, but it's not guaranteed.  The biggest problem is the potential for data corruption on the SS device.

The video recommends going into Windows 11, removing the appropriate update depending on the category of Windows installed, and disabling automatic updates so Windows doesn't install it again.

Just a heads-up.  Hopefully MS can provide a fix for this update soon.   :shaka:

I’m not going into 11. Straight up spyware. Got a dual boot with 10 and Debian and will switch to Wine for all my windows programs when they finally stop official support.
Stop blaming lazy people. We didn’t do anything.

Windows 10 is supposed to end support Oct 14, 2025.

There are lawsuits filed against MS for ending support, so that date is not yet etched in stone.

They are zooming in on the problem, but it's complicated.

Imagine taking medical advice from software guy who can’t even make decent software.

Imagine taking medical advice from software guy who can’t even make decent software.
His entire rise to heading the biggest software company ever was not due to his technical skills as much as his smarts in marketing and licensing his products.

So, when he talks about anything having to do with complex technical issues, I tend to give him little to no credibility.  That's the bait, and there has to be a hook hiding somewhere.
